I'm wondering if BHW admins/mods/community would support adding a venture capitalist section to the forum. Thoughts?

I dont think it would make much sense as pretty much any serious VC wouldnt want to fund a thing from here

While I can see dissent in certain services offered here, overall I would think in some areas and niches investors for small start-ups and promising up and coming ventures a little capital would go a long way, considering most services offered here can't get traditional funding from a bank, so member-to-member micro loans wouldn't be a bad thing in my opinion.

The possibility of scam is quite high here, you never know if you'll get back your money or investment after putting in money

I feel your concern here, but proper vetting is left to the member-to-member function.

As it stands now the forum does not allow investment threads and VC posts would fall into that in my opinion.

Perhaps I am missing something so others' thoughts would be welcome of course.

All good, was just thinking of a business-to-business solution for those niches that can't get traditional funding. You can go ahead and close this thread. I thank those of you that commented and shared your feelings in this regard. Thanks guys.

Appreciate the info Asif. But I doubt it would work here as there isn't the kind of support and cooperation amongst community members here that would make it successful. The idea was to help out each other b2b style, sort of like what Perfect Money does.

VC's are serious people and only invest in multi million dollar idea's which require 500k+ in starting capital with proper business models... maybe there could be a section for business angels, but VC's definitely won't come here

I like the idea but I think it would be a high risk venture on BHW.
Unless you can meet people in person or have resources to carry out full due diligence and the ability to confirm identities then I am sure somebody would suffer a loss eventually.
Even with an escrow service I can see problems.
It is a shame and there are many trustworthy and honest people on BHW but all it takes is one bad apple.

The idea was not to bring professional vc's to this community, but make up both the lender and the lendee from this community.

I completely agree with your points here and I won't advocate for large lending purposes, rather micro vc where if any losses occur would be minimal at best.

Not sure where you are getting your information but that is pretty far from real life.

Myself and a lot of others invest capital in small businesses that are well under that threshold. You would be surprised what is available in the real world for those that are looking for gems in the business world where a capital infusion is required and the returns can be strong.
