We all know that backlinks from templates etc. is great.

But HOW great exactly is what I like to know a bit more about.

Say I got a PR3 blog (on a different server and all that) with 1000 posts. Including a backlink on every page to my main site.

    1. Will it be just as good a a single backlink from the blog?
    2. Around 100 times as good as a single backlink?
    3. More than 100 times as good as a single backlink?

Would love your thoughts about this.
I got a clear opinion about this myself - just don't want to push it over your head. Want your opinion.

    Thanks.

If the site is spammy, then it is useless IMHO.
If the site is an authority site, with a lot of useful content, then you might get the value of 100+ link (probably).

    That's my belief.

That is also what i'm thinking - but does the same rule apply if the site has 50,000 pages - hmmmmmmm

Again, that depends on what the site's content it, what it's authority is, how many RELEVANT links the page itself has.

This is what i think, and I stand by this. Truth is hidden in the Google's algo.

I have pushed these footers link to extreme.

I have a partership with an ebay like website. It is a triangular exchange. I asked them to put a link to my business website and i put them a link on my blog they wanted a footer link on.

Well, i have currently 300K backlinks from their website according to webmaster tool and my ranking didn't move for months.

I have although some stuffes to fix on page SEO speaking that i keep post poning such as the basic that i won't name because it was very stupid mistake i did when i developped the website with common headers to all pages.. I let you guess what it is.

What did you anchor text look like - you did not just include your domain I hope (unless it's those keywords you target) :)

Trying it out with a 13K page PR5 site I have access to - with a OBL of 4 - very excited to see how it works out. Great or super great :)

I mean your footer link is on the PR 3 blog and it is pointing another site or the main page of the PR3 blog ?
