The new proposed .UK domain being released by Nominet could potentially be negative for .co.uk domains. Will this new domain replace .co.uk as the uk standard. And registration prices will be higher at least £20 a year. This will also eradicate drop catchers as I imagine it will go the way of the u.s where valuable domains are not allowed to drop and go to auction instead. In fact I have just received this email from a dropcatcher/domainer. "We are currently having a sale clearance on .UK domain names we have for sale. The current updated list is 2153 domain names and the price is any one name for 50 pounds or any 3 names for 100 pounds. To view the list of domain names please goto URL" So it appears the mass selling has already started. Watch as co.uk domains drop in value rapidly... As the market is flooded.
