I'm finally getting my ebay business on track and so far i shipped out 5 packages. All 5 were shipped with tracking # and first class mail, but a day later half of the tracking numbers don't update (this normally means they aren't scanning them) and the other half are stuck on "Processed at USPS Origin Sort Facility"......i'm really pissed because i'm doing my job so they should be doing theirs! i only make 40 cent profit off each package so i can't afford more secure shipping. Does anyone know what i can do so my packages stop getting stuck/lost with USPS?

The problem is i won't get any customers because my competition is charging the exact same price as me and if higher the price (which i would have to with other shipping companies) i won't get any buyers! :(

Can you look for a better price on the product you are selling so you can compensate for the shipping increase? Or maybe find a product with a better margin to sell. $.40 per sale isn't profit at all. You probably spent $2 in gas to get to USPS to ship all 5 out

I put the 5 in my mailbox and i can get a better price but i have to wait until i'm 18 because it's on dhgate (which requires credit cards). This is just my start out items, once i get a little more origanized and legal i will be selling other items that will bring it $1 - $2 profit (doesn't sound like much but it's quantity that matters).

You can use many other shipping services, they might be even better than USPS.

try having someone else with a credit card purchase your items for you.... PM me i do not mind... no different from a drop ship. I purchase twice a week from them and other places... but I agree .40 is nothing. 1 item I sell I get pissed because it is an 3.54 profit (but I sell 300 of this 1 item a month)... But to better answer your question USPS is the cheapest for small profit items

I appreciate your kind gesture but i can't really trust you because your new and only have 11 post (nothing personal) also i don't know anyone with a credit card and i really don't want to risk their money anyways (dhgate does not support their buyers so it's "buy at your own will" kind of thing).

Sounds to me that you're going out of business because USPS can't do their job, not them.

Oh the horror stories I could tell you about USPS. We used to ship 100 packages a day USPS. They lost 3.5% of our packages. When I say lost I mean they disappeared. We had a constant battle with our local sort facility. If shipments where heading east from our location they went to Indy and rarely did we have an issue. If the packages were going West from our location they went through Chicago and often times it took a week to travel 60 miles. Once they got through that facility they'd deliver anywhere in the Country in 2-3 days but taking a week to travel the first 60 miles caused us a ton a problems.

I complained to everyone. Postmaster, then Postmaster General, then Regional Managers all for nothing. NOBODY gave a shit. When I showed them proof of constant losses and delays they acted concerned for a few days and then lucky if I got a response. The local Postmaster and I knew each other on a first name basis. After a couple years of this shit I finally called her and said you know what, I don't have to sell on eBay and deal with USPS bullshit. She had a smug look on her face and I told her you know that $7000 a month I purchase in postage? It just came to an end. I can't pay so much money to a business that does nothing but cause me stress. I shut it all down. I couldn't take it anymore.

A few months later I got calls from the Regional Manager wanting to know what they could do to get my business back. I said not a damn thing; that boat sailed and isn't coming back.

Now when I hear how they're losing money it's no surprise to me. I saw first hand now inept they operate.

Wow that sucks! so far only 2 of my packages have been lost in the mail but i can tell that i'm gonna have a terrible time with usps. I wish that in the near future another shipping company will emerge and offer cheap prices but i doubt it.

USPS is a savior for small businesses, who cant pay for courier. Start comparison with courier companies and you will realize the benefit. I have been using Canadapost and its brutal. I some time get quotes from UPS cheaper than from Canadapost. Recently sent a small package to germany and it costed me 35$ without tracking. Its weight was less than 2 pound with dimensions of 9 * 5 * 5.

Other package of 19* 10 * 11 with 27 pound to Australia was costing me 210$ , while DHL took 230 , So i went through them. Though their brokerage charges will kill the deal but its fast. Trust me , when dealing with courier we dont have other option but to rely on local post.

If you look at their business model, its being killed too. Email have screwed their business. No one send normal mails to any one and the size is shrinking for corporate businesses too. I was at a local store and looked at their sale since morning which was close to 500$. Now there is a full time employee working their which will be taking atleast 100-150$ / day. On top of that, their is a kiosk fee which might be 30$/day. So 50$ in overheads and comign out to be around 250$ at maximum/ day which is not a lot of money in my opinion in revenue in which they are handling all those mails

Though it should not be an excuse but they need to focus on good service and may be launching a bit premium service

I ship 50+ packages each day. It's not unusual that some packages don't get scanned and regularly updated. USPS won't update their tracking after every move. We've never experienced any lost packages. What we did get was complaints from buyers who stated they didn't receive their items after tracking stated that the item has been delivered. Now that's a whole different story.

Although Fedex and UPS is a lot better with their tracking, it's more costly.

I don't get how the tracking not updating effects your business -- however, as I've posted before...

Your tracking will now look like this! :)

I ship 100+ packages through USPS everyday. Nothing wrong with their business. They are the cheapest for small packages and you get what you pay for. You didn't even pay for tracking... you got delivery confirmation which is a free service. The service is just like it says: confirmation of delivery. Not track your package.

They are not required to scan your package when they get it, UNLESS you use scan form. So, if you want instant update of package sent, use scan forms.
