What sort of good or ill can come from using another sites name and adding addl lwtters to it to create a new name?

In the case of above, what is the likelihood of ...

    A lawsuit
    Purchase
Creation of a new niche search engine (say for pr0n)

    Possibilities and perils please

It depends if it is unique. If your domain is like ebay"s" or iPod"s" you could have a problem.

If you get it as unique as Bingle (Australian car insurance company pops up first), then there's no worries about it, but using any registered trademark as the seed word is generally quite bad idea.
