do you recommend paying for placement if someone were to type the url into google?

what can I expect?

If it 's your url I don 't recommend it, because you will be (almost) always on first place. If you want to use other url maybe it works... But normally no one searches for domains.

Mmmmm......

Exact searches:

"blackhatworld.com"
Monthly searches - 2,400

"yahoo.com"
Monthly searches - 24,900,000

With so many people having the google toolbar, it is easily mistaken for the address bar. Even happens to me on occasion.

Be careful though as you can get in trouble for copyright problems

In my short amount of time doing PPC for big-name companies, I was really surprised at the high number of clicks coming from brandname.com rather than just brandname. The traffic was cheaper too.

good traffic plus the CTR is usually super high. I say do it. ;)

this is maybe 1/20th of my business plan when using PPC campaigns. You take the top 10 or if possible 50 sites in your niche, add there url (ex: google.com) to your adword campaign. 1 of my sites gets about 20-30 clicks daily from URL keywords @ about $0.10 a click

People always type in the URL of companies to look at there reviews. A good way to get targeted visitors for cheap.
