a competitor is ranking using this method.
his domain used to be a legit site belonging to a scientific community. Therefore, it gained high value links from forbes, huffington post, and also some .edu

he bought the domain and made it his money site. he also built some backlinks but nothing of high value.

now he is ranking for a competitive keyword.

here, usually people discourage using old sites as your money site. I have also tried to experiment with this once and the site didn't rank. but this guy must be doing something right because he is ranking. The old domain has absolutely nothing to do with the topic of the new domain.

    any ideas?

Anyone who replies to any of your threads is wasting their time and effort.

You have 523 posts, of which 417 are threads you started.

Which means you have asked at least 311 questions and then never even had the courtesy to respond to people who bother helping.

As you are saying he has backlinks from forbes, huffing and other big platforms, i guess this is the main reason as he is ranking good.. people always wish to get link from such big platforms but they can't get... I think this is like a gifted ranking blog from whatever the exprireddomain or site where he get this domain.
