    Now I don't know how many of you have 100% genuine written by yourself content. But if you do here's a way to grab a few links, as well as protect yourself from any duplicate content concerns you may have.

    Go to copyscape and do a search on your domain. If any results come up then send them a letter such as the one below.

    I have never taken it any further, and there's no chance I would as I don't want to have any human intervention any where near my site if at all possible, however in about 90% of cases the text is either removed or a link given, and it's generally an on topic, in content link, the best and hardest ones to get.

    you won't get 100's of links from this but you can definately get some good ones. I just got 2 PR4 links from thism method this morning, and If I could take 10 minutes to get 2 of those everyday I'd be a happy man.

    Code:
    [COLOR=#222222][FONT=Arial][COLOR=white]The Manager[/COLOR][/FONT][/COLOR]

    [COLOR=#222222][FONT=Arial][COLOR=white]It has just come to my attention that the below mentioned webpage[/COLOR][/FONT][/COLOR]

    [COLOR=#222222][FONT=Arial][COLOR=white][URL="http://www.offendingsite.com"]www.offendingsite.com[/URL][/COLOR][/FONT][/COLOR]

    [COLOR=#222222][FONT=Arial][COLOR=white]is using large parts of text from [/COLOR][COLOR=white]http://www.mysite[/COLOR][COLOR=white] without any prior permission being given .The [URL="http://www.mysite"]www.mysite[/URL] website has been online for over 11 years and is undeniably the copyright holder of this material. This can be checked at [/COLOR][URL="http://www.web.archive.org/"][COLOR=white]http://www.web.archive.org[/COLOR][/URL][COLOR=white] if in any doubt.[/COLOR][/FONT][/COLOR]

    [COLOR=#222222][FONT=Arial][COLOR=white]If this matter is not rectified immediately a DMCA infringement will be lodged with all major search engines, including Google and Yahoo. The offending site then may be deindexed thereby being removed from their search results.[/COLOR][/FONT][/COLOR]

    [COLOR=#222222][FONT=Arial][COLOR=white]This matter may be rectified in one of three ways.[/COLOR][/FONT][/COLOR]

    [COLOR=white][COLOR=#222222][FONT=Arial][COLOR=white]1. [/COLOR][/FONT][/COLOR][COLOR=#222222][FONT=Arial][COLOR=white]The plagiarised text being removed completely from the offending[/COLOR] [COLOR=white]website.[/COLOR][/FONT][/COLOR][/COLOR]
    [COLOR=white][COLOR=#222222][FONT=Arial][COLOR=white]2.     [/COLOR][/FONT][/COLOR][COLOR=#222222][FONT=Arial][COLOR=white]The payment of a $500 licence fee to use the plagiarised[/COLOR] [COLOR=white]text.[/COLOR][/FONT][/COLOR][/COLOR]
    [COLOR=white][COLOR=#222222][FONT=Arial][COLOR=white]3. [COLOR=#222222][FONT=Arial][COLOR=white]Please treat this matter seriously, as we are. Please rectify this matter in one of the 3 ways listed by 23/03/11 to avoid any further action on by us.[/COLOR][/FONT][/COLOR]

    Also apologies to anyone from here who has received or does receive one of these messages - just ignore it. It's all a hollow threat

    Great idea buddy! Never thought of this!

    However, this technique wont be usefull too often. I am running several websites and never had someone copy/pasted my content.

    I guess you could steal someone else content and then pretend that you wrote it first.. but this would be dangerous since you could get slapped by Google for duplicated content.

    I run an online travel agency, we have over 500 pages of all totally unique content all written by myself, and trust me it gets stolen constantly.

    Great method I am going to try this. As for finding targets, just submit an article to ezinearticles and articlesbase. A few days after they get approved check your backlinks. You will have a few new backlinks. Now take a section of your article and use it as a footprint to find all index copies of your articles. You will find the number of copies your article indexed in the search engines to be much higher than the number of new backlinks you have. Why? Because 90% of the people who take from article directories strip out the resource box. Now apply this method, and get YOUR rightfully deserved backlinks. In fact, blackmail them for homepage links.

    Not a bad spin on the idea -

    I find my success from the above letter to be about

    50% content removed
    0% payment made
    20% link/credit given
    30% ignore me completely.

    i definately think the ignore percentage would rise when using this about articles

    There's a company owned by some law firm that bought up some news type sites and hopes their content gets copied. Then they go ahead and actually sue the webmasters who jack them. Actually a really good idea.

    Glad I clicked on this post, because this happens to us all the time with submitting to article directories. Thanks for the tip and prewritten email.

    That's a really great tip thanks!

    Just run a quick check myself, and lo and behold someone has actually removed the links from an Ezines article they've added to their site!
    What's wrong with people? Just make them NoFollow if you're that bothered by it, don't break the express agreement you've entered into with Ezines articles by removing the links!

    I've written a fairly similar letter to yours, but added the sting that should the matter not be resolved to my satisfaction within a reasonable timeframe I shall bring the matter to the attention of EzineArticles and as many of their authors as I possibly can (I figur they're bound to realise that that caving in to my demands is a HELL of alot easier than having to go through their entire site adding back in the links they've removed).

    Haha got a reply the very next day from the host :)
    Hello,

    Thank you for your email. Due to company policies we don't suspend our
    customer or give out customer data without a valid court order. In order to
    investigate this case any further, we ask you to provide us with a valid court
    order from either the EU or USA.

    If you wish, we can forward a message to the domain owner.

    Kind Regards

    Responded thanking them for the prompt reply, and that I've already contacted the site owner assuming their entry into the whois directory is correct, but would happy for them to forward the message to the site owner themselves.
    Also said I'll most likely wait till monday and bring the matter to the attention of EzineArticles since they're the main wronged party in this matter.

    (Wasn't sure if it was cool to say who the host was :p)
