Using A website name that is trademark - help please

    I got an email from an american insurance company telling me that i cannot
    use their trade name as a domain name for example niketrainerscheap.com
    but the trade mark name is nike..

    Anyway where do i stand on this - and i am in the UK

    Pretty simple really dude, if they have contacted you specificly and told you not to use the name then you better leave it well alone.

    I've had similar experiences... sometimes i even contact the company direct to see if there is any problems and generally 7 times out of 10 they are not bothered as long as you are not benefiting solely for yourself.

    another words if your using 'niketrainerscheap' and are selling cheap nike trainers and nothing else they tend to be pretty cool with it.

    If you are selling cheap nike trainers + plastering your site with adsense or ebooks for other products etc, you are in affect taking their customers and gaining for yourself... this is a no go!
