    for example: appleipod30gb.com
if/when they contact me to give them the domain, ill just hand it over and move on.

thats okay for me to do, they'll leave me alone as long as i give it to them when they ask...right?

i found a few great keywords that i would like to do this with. my only goal here is to get few bucks from adsense and a positive first seo experience.

if the brand is a trademarked name, then yes, they can take it from you

what im asking is if they would do something like sue me for profiting off their name or something like that.

and 1 more question, could they do this with both the "apple" and "ipod" names or just apple (relating to thier products, not the food :))?

Some brands wouldn't care as long as you don't do it for commercial purpose (an example is review site). But some brands are way stricter and would take legal action immediately.

im a law student that studies trademark law. i am not an attorney but here is my guess:

technically, they could sue the sh*t out of you and get back all the money you have earned.

in reality, we RARELY ever see these. they will more likely send you a cease and desist letter then require you to transfer them the domain.

if you are curious if they own a trademark then most likely they do. said another way, if you have to ponder whether the company owns the mark then they probably do because they are a billion dollar company and wouldnt market something if they didnt bother to register it first.

so in a nutshell, you can do this but be ready to stop the minute you get the letter from their attorneys.

I wouldn't use Adsense on a Branded domain just because of how strict Adsense is and how greedy they are

I wouldn't do that - even if they were to peacefully take it off you a couple years down the track, that's a lot time deveolping and working on the off-page seo that you have wasted.

I had about 5-6 of these types a year back, and 1 month into optimizing, I realised this and just took all of those sites down.

If you put time, effort, and money into a site, it better be long term! :)

would adsense ban me? didnt think of that. should i use an adense alternative for the site or do you mean something different?

some of the keywords are easy enough to the point where i would be ranking well for the kw in days (i think)
for ex: the #1 ranking site for one of the kw's is pr4, 122 page backlinks, no title, no h1 tag, no description. and i have emd for it.

im mainly doing this just so i can get some momentum going. ive learned a lot since i got here 10 months ago. i know that i know more than enough to start making some good money but haven't done very well so far. taking a lot of action, just failing often.

I won't suggest you to do it as in long run you will be always skeptical about your site and can't put your full energy to get it succeed as you will be like the domain could be taken over or something.

I would suggest you to either research keywords and find good EMD and try to build an authority website where you can focus and put all your energy to get it succeed.

In IM world we should always plan for long term ventures rather than earning a quick buck.
