I don't see it common use for 200 years. The vehicles exist now, but they are really a plane. The infrastructure doesn't exist to support them, the safety systems don't exist to keep them safe, the power requirements are going to e enormous, and regulating "skyways" will be impossible.

I can see hovercars in 60 years, but nothing that gets too high above the ground.

Would you trust the people you see on the road now, today, to operate a vehicle that requires paying attention to more than the 360 degrees around you?

flying cars would be possible only if humans wont drive them.. they should be all controled by a system that predicts where every car will be at every moment so it can trace routes and make them not crash.

Only way automated flying cars would work would be if they were automated in such a way that absolutely no outside interference could affect it.

No gov or regulating/safety body would permit an electronic device that could not receive interference.

If cars today can have their computers taken over remotely and forced to shut down, even while in motion, could you imagine if someone got control over the flight navigation computers and made all the cars fly right into the ground?

We have the technology, materials, capability and desire to do this now, but we don't have a culture where it wouldn't be a liability or create a massive divide between Haves and Have-Nots. It would create a world where it would be all about the Haves and Have-Yachts, and the poor would get pissed, but over time they would become more technologically literate, and would have an absolute incentive, in their minds, to hurt the fancy people with the fancy flying cars while they starve in the year 2100

edit: flying cars could work if they develop a way for always-on anti-gravity that would make your car the most awesome soft bumpercar. that would be awesome, not being able to hit anything, making your way to work by pointing the direction you want to go and FLOORING IT, not giving a shit. That would be great. Only way always-on anti-gravity would be to be overtly trying to shut it down instead of hiding behind a screen haxin away at computers.

    tl;dr go develop always-on never-off not-electrical anti-gravity. yes.

It isn't really something which people realize but behind the scenes is a lot going on which might really soon lead to some really big steps forward in technology.

Something I found on a website some time ago:

All that was only decades ago something people wrote about in scifi books for years like 2300 and upwards.
