Hi,
did you ever use a Blogping-Service like ping-o-matic for normal websites? what happens then? is it a way to index new pages rapidely? or may it result in anything bad? (penalities?)

i thought it was a good idea. tell me your experiences.

regards, checkurself

Yes it will send bots to your site and it will likely get you indexed - though I would prefer getting some backlinks (via social bookmarking for example) for indexing purposes.

I used it and it's quite good to call the bots - they will visit you almost every day but for the indexing you need some static links. So use ping as additional technique to the links.

I use pinging to compliment my social bookmarking and it seems to be fairly effective. I use the "Pingler" service that one of the forum members created.

I do it a lot, not sure how much it helps, but its quick to do

I am also cautious of making Google think my site is a blog (too many backlinks coming from blogrolls & pinging every day).

There is no problem. Actually, ping is build to help search engines know there is something new.

There are separate blog ping lists that are only meant for blogs. But most ping services allow everything.

My suggestion is to ping your new page with pingomatic.

cant u just put rss feed on ur website and ping the rss feed link instead?

for some reason i thought your site had to have an rss feed to be pinged..but i could be wrong
