Hello guys, I use amazon as a way to monetize my site, so obviously I spent some time searching for articles to refer.
I've notice since 2 months ago every search that I made on amazon or google is retargeting me on the facebook ads:

It's kind of annyoing because the ads are exceptionally recurrent I see this kind of ads at least 2 times a day (and I spent in average 3 hours a day on facebook). But that's not the point, the point is

who tha hell is dradisplay-20? which is amazon id behind all this referal.

    The second thing is:

is it profitable to use retargeting on the amazon referral program?

And the third thing is how can we do this same thing?

Whatever he/she`s doing it works. But Amazon doesn`t allow to use PPC directly to Amazon and to use their trademark as this way too. Gotta check cause facebook ppc allowes some type of direct linking. Interesting.

    Cheers

Same here - I saw this about a month ago and thought some guy was messing around with FB ads and will soon be banned by Amazon but even today I can see this working. For re targeting to work, you need to have a code installed on the site that the potential buyer has visited and there's no way he got to install a piece of code on Amazon!

So what the hell is happening?

    So if:

    - This guy isn't banned from Facebook to use affiliate marketing on the ads and
    - You need to install a code on the website, to get the retargeting work.

The only solution is that dradisplay-20 is AMAZON (or Facebook).

Amazon is the one giant that can talk with Facebook to not ban its ads. If Amazon and Facebook are working together with retargeting and conversion type of ads, both are wining big numbers showing this ads:

This is amazon doing retargeting and not an affiliate.

BTW, they are not doing this with FB but via a retargeting company (Duh)

Check out the pixels that they launch on amazon. appnexus should be the platform that is serving you the retargeting.

Yeah, I also kind of figured out that it was Amazon doing this via a retargeting company. The point then is what if a person clicks through my affiliate link and doesn't buy anything (but my cookie is still valid for 24 hours) - then Amazon shows him/her a retargeted ad in the next few hours and obviously my affiliate id is overwritten with theirs! That's not evr cool right?

I actually suspect that advertisers that have direct access on the big exchanges could pull this off. Retargeting companies share their entire inventory to other advertisers for search terms, so it is probably possible for some end users to target any URLs to retarget.

If you want to remove retargeting you need to clean you history as well as delete cookies and caches. Retargeting on the other hand is good for brand recall and you can actually use it. If you need to find a DSP that can do retargeting you can check out Bluagile
