So guys, I'm looking for some ideas in my IM carrier and I've got a lot of friends from the USA.

So the thing that I want is to open some type of business in the USA (California) and employ myself there. Currently I'm in Europe.

The thing is, neither do my friends or myself know what types of businesses is there in the USA and what are the "cold month" expenses.

So what would you guys suggest:

    - What type of business to open for managing IM services like banner ad selling and other adds
    - How much does it cost to open such type of business?
    - What are the "cold month" costs for this type of business?
    - Do I have to have a work place for the business or could it be in my friends house?

Why am I asking such (maybe) dumb questions? Because opening a business in my country cost's a lot, like 3000$, and after that you have to have for about 700$ every month to pay taxes and other bills..

    Tnx for the answers :)

If you are doing everything via online you can open any type of business, just wondering why the USA?

    - How much does it cost to open such type of business?

If you open a corporation I think at this time about $1000 in California
but their are much cheaper states such as Florida.

    - What are the "cold month" costs for this type of business?

Would think the "cold months" would be around the holiday of Christmas
and the summer time June - Aug if you are targeting consumers versus
    businesses

    - Do I have to have a work place for the business or could it be in my friends house?

You friend can be on the corporate documents with you as a director as well and yes you need a physical location for legal purposes and local business licenses depending on the city/county.

Whatever the state is you might have to collect sales tax and thereafter pay the proper authorities, but you must check

As far as your monthly expenses you will have rent, electrical, water etc
along with your advertising expenses but you probably know that.

One thing you will find is you must pay the state every year for a corporation. In my state if I wanted to keep the corporation it was
    $200 per year.

Don't forget taxes on your income after expenses of course. If you have a corporation you must have a tax preparer other than yourself to do every year. A corporation is a legal and separate "person" as the USA see's it.

Hope that helps, maybe partner with one of your friends and they can represent you here in the land of plenty.. ha ha

The above answers are not providing legal advise. See a USA attorney with any questions.

    Tnx for the answers :)[/QUOTE]
