USA is now the world leader in having the most corona virus cases..!

Looks like y'all should have taken Andrew Yang's UBI/Freedom Dividend of $1000 a month per person. Nobody took him seriously, but now everyone applying for unemployment relief and he was trying to explain to all Americans why UBI/Freedom dividend was important to have. Now the US preparing to give out 2 trillion dollars relief.

It's a flu just like the swine/bird flu a few years back, with 90% less freaking out. Thanks social media.

Have to disagree there. You can't just compare this to other common viruses. Because of some facts which make this very likely a biological weapon(whether it's man made or nature made is unknown)

1. This virus is very contagious. It gets inside the body in a very fluent system.
2. It can live outside the body for a very long time. Researches suggest that it can live up to 120 hours without entering the body.
3. It remains hidden inside the body for a long period. Reports suggest that, the virus can remain inactive up to 27 days, and while inactive the person carrying keeps spreading the virus.
4. The virus does not kill a person quickly. So during the treatment it keeps spreading to nearby people.
5. The mutilating system of the virus is very unique, and it keeps updating itself to the surrounding environment.

The most dangerous thing is, the fatality rate is increasing day by day. As the virus keeps spreading, it's doing more damage. Also the graph of affected people is skyrocketing at the moment, because of it's stealth nature. You can see on below link.

So, No, it's not just a flu or a media hype. It's a running nightmare.

Because of social media.
It's scary all of those social media platforms are owned by Americans.
The country has way more power than I even imagined and yet they are failing.

It's the death rate that matters. Not the infection rate. The more people get infected BUT NOT DYING the better for the population, as it helps the population develop herd immunity.

Have you read Trump twister last two week. He just only care about economic, he don't care about human

Yes, i saw that.
They could save themselves but its very sad to see they got infected so hard.

Statistically US is leading right now, but China has not reported any numbers for the last 2 weeks or so. Why is that? There seems to be almost no increase in daily infections in China while all other countries are getting more and more infections despite quarantine.

It's not a "competition", they wanted to win.

There's no need to compare this virus to any other virus, rating it more serious than the common flu or not as serious. Just think rationally and don't believe in the reported numbers blindly for more than one reason.

If you take a pause from your Facebook feed and zoom out to be able to see a bigger picture, you may realize something:

The fatality rate of the virus was overestimated in the beginning and still is by many, because of not testing enough people without symptoms or with mild symptoms, because of many countries are testing only those, who show up at hospitals and those are obviously the more serious cases, or refusing to test even some of those, or because of countries underreporting (China diagnosed 40k cases on top of the 80k they reported, but those didn't show any symptoms, so they decided not to include those in the stats) etc. It's estimated, that around 80% of the infected will have no or just mild symptoms. Unless countries seriously rump up their testing capacity (which they won't be able to do, no time for that), the vast majority of the cases will never be in any stats, so the reported fatality rate will be skewed forever and will look a lot more bad than it actually is.

The real fatality rate of this virus will be under 1%, rational estimates expect it to be between 0.1% and 0.5% and i tend to agree with those.

The population of the world grows by ~1% every year at this stage, which means ~80 million surplus for this year only by the end of the year.

Conclusion: when the virus is done infecting every living human on the planet (which it won't) and killed everyone, it wanted, there will be a lot more people on the Earth compared to when the virus started. The death toll of this virus will be a small dent globally.

Life will never be the same from many aspects, but while people dying is sad and the economical effects will be huge, this is not the virus, which eradicates humanity, fortunately.

Very good points! But I would also add for everyone to keep perspective:

The common flu infected 32 million americans this past winter of which 60,000 died. Covid19 still has a lot of catching up to do but it's getting 1000x more coverage and panic.
People should have been panicking over the common flu but nobody cared...no masks, hand sanitzers, no 1 meter distancing, they all touched, breathed, shared, hugged, mingled and carried on life as if it was safe but was it? There was a common flu going around that kills 60,000 and infects 32 million (US alone).

Also, while covid19 deserves special attention because it is immediate and it's contagious, at the same time, we have something like CANCER which kills 9.5 million per year and 23 million new cases per year and we know even LESS about cancer than we do about covid19. We don't know what causes it exactly but we do know it's in the air (pollutants), it's in the food we eat (processed shit), and it's in a lot of the daily materials we use....yet nobody is living in fear or panic about not wanting to touch food, breathe air, or stay 1 meter away from all objects. At least with covid19 we know how to contract it and how it infects people. With cancer, we don't really know of any way to avoid it or stay away from it yet people live with no fear eating all the processed foods they can and using all kinds of chemicals in and on their bodies etc. Also, ask yourself this: how many people directly do you know that have covid19? vs how many people do you know that have or has had or been affected by cancer?

I would love for them to run a daily stats number on the number of cancer deaths per day and the number of new cases per day and keep showing it everyday on the news and see how much panic and hysteria the public would have around that. I haven't even touched on heart disease which edges cancer by the slimmest of margins as the #1 killer on the planet.

I just can't help but to think of these things whenever I keep seeing covid19 on the news and how doom gloom apocalpytic world is ending tone they use when they say, 1000 have now died of covid19 in the USA as if that's the worst thing that has happened. Well, 26,000 today just died (world) of cancer and that was just 1 day, many of them children (unlike covid19). Nobody cares. Interesting.

Because your mindset is like this, the US will be always #1 for every flu, like this coronavirus.

For everyone others, please stay at home!

I'm more worried that it will affect Amazon Affiliate as they did close it down in India. If they close down Amazon Associates at USA, I'm fucked.

And? That's good, we're too many people on this earth anyway.

And I never said to go out and spread that shit, just stop starting 5934 threads here every day, what's that gonna help? Are you making $50 an hour discussing this virus, or?

Your points are spot on. even I read an article few days back on Washington Times which focused on the same points. That the media is creating too much hype. Here you can check the link.

Well I bought it for few days. But then I ran some calculations. According to the report's stats which is from CDC, 49 million were sickened by the flu and 80,000 were dead in 2018, that is in USA alone. Now if you calculate the fatality rate, it is merely 0.16%. So 0.16 people are dying out of hundred who are affected by flu. According to your stats the death rate is 0.19%, which is pretty close to the report's stats.
Now come to the Covid-19 cases. As of now, the total number of affected people is 537,881 and 24,149 people are dead. That brings to a staggering 4.49% death rate. And the creepy part is, this rate is increasing.

Hoping for the best for everyone out there, small businesses are getting hit hard

Agreed. Even Elon Musk said the same thing a couple weeks back. Of the 24,000 or so that have died, I think we'd also need to look more carefully into those stats. I don't have them on me, so this may not be 100% accurate, but from what I've been hearing over the 2 months, MOST of the deaths are coming from those that are over 60 (over 80%). I believe there is less than 1% of it from under 40 years of age and even smaller under 20 years of age...in most countries, no deaths under 20 years of age.

In Italy where the elderly population is one of the largest in the world per capita and most of them live in the same household with family, it's not that surprising why so many are dying in Italy...90% of them being old people who were already at high risk of dying due to weak immune systems or other underlying health issues.

The reality is that while the spread is alarming, the death rate isn't anything unusual. It just seems like it because they keep showing you the numbers every single day from every country and it scares the hell out of you. But if you think about it, 26,000 people everyday day from cancer alone....where are the reports and news tickers counters on that??? Doesn't matter that it's not contagious. The fact is, 23 million people are getting it every year. If you were to report on the news every single day each person that got it, you'd be hearing about 60,000 new reports EACH DAY of cancer alone. This doesn't include all the other hundreds of illnesses and diseases that are killing people daily....heart disease, diabetes, the common flu, suicide, homicide, drowning, falling, respiratory illnesses (3rd leading killer after heart disease and cancer), and what about the 25,000 people that die everyday simply out of starvation....and a person is murdered every 60 seconds. Imagine that. To think that we let our children go outside and play knowing that someone is murdered every 60 seconds? If we were paranoid like the covid19 panic, we would not ever let our children go outside anywhere risking that they might get murdered.

1.25 million car accident deaths per year...Elon Musk said you had a higher chance of dying in your car than dying of coronavirus.

Now, I do believe that we need to take the necessary precautions as we should anyways in daily life, but I think most of it is blown out of proportion. Also, did you notice whenever they show video clips of hospitals, they ONLY show the covid patients and the covid wards? As if there aren't other sick and dying people in the hospital everyday? Where are the other sick people from the 100 other diseases out there that are killing us? All these hospitals are not filled with only covid patients. They completely exclude everyone else because only covid is important to scare the hell out of everyone that another person died. Well, 55 million people die every year. I refuse to give into fear. I will be careful about it but I'm not buying into this panic paranoia the media throws on us with their daily death count ticker....sorry but 20,000 deaths is nothing compared to 55 million at this point. This ain't like the spanish flu at all. It's like trying to compare a modern day bad people to Hitler. I hate when they do that too. You can't give the "Hitler" title to someone just because they killed a couple hundred people. Not even close to being the same comparison.

US always wants to lead in everything but hopefully this too shall pass in Trump we trust

You're kidding right?

You trust a lying narcist who doesn't care about his people but only his own wallet to solve this crisis?

and you think the numbers in china are accurate? WHO is probably more like CHO now
