Pretty sad. Unfortunately, no one in this country really cares. This is only one example of thousands of how poorly US tax dollars are spent and it never gains the attention it deserves.

This pisses me off to no end because no one is taking care of the other side of this. The NY Atty General who started this is a moron. He has no idea why fake reviews are done. If we don't have fake reviews to get rid of the bad reviews from competitors, our businesses will die. If our businesses die, we pay no taxes and the economy suffers. Retail is cut throat. It gets viscous beyond words. I took my store out of the review sites such as manta, etc Competitors leave bad reviews. You know they're fake because you never had that experience. "All the sapphires fell out of the bracelet." I didn't have any sapphire bracelets back then. As soon as a store gets good ranking in google for the golden keywords, all hell breaks loose. I have told the story before about how I was knocked out of the serps for another store that I had after ranking on page 2 for the golden keywords and knocking JCPenney out. It was all white hat that got me there. My site ended up disappearing from the serps because of the infinite number of porn associated with my site. The NY Times investigated the methods of major stores and brought their findings to google. Google penalized JCPenney and other stores for their black hat methods. I am convinced that JCPenney was the one that did that to me. Small businesses are damned every which way we turn. Get high in google and get knocked out. Get good reviews on sites and the viciousness starts. Get bad reviews and business suffers. Buy fake reviews to make the fake bad reviews get lost and get fined by the state. What is the attorney general going to do for me? Nothing. Because no one takes care of the small business.

what a damn joke, why don't they go after competitors who post negative reviews? that's why these companies are having to post fake ones, just more government bullshit, i've come to expect it. will be leaving the USA for greener pastures someday
