Hello all you Americans. I am going to SEO some search terms related to smartphones, and the geographical target will be north america. So I am just wondering... Do you guys in general get off-contract phones and then get a contract separately, or do the overwhelming majority of you guys get a discounted phone with a contract?

    Thanks in advance.

I always try to buy new smartphones with a contract because I always buy iPhones which get ~50% discount with a 2 year contract. I have even gone as far as taking a my mother's discount if I wish to upgrade smartphones before I can sign another 2 year contract.

Thanks guys. Yeah, the search stats seem to indicate that yanks are not much into buying phones separately. That's too bad. Back to keyword research for me...

Even if they say you can save more through prepaid, I still continue to use postpaid plans. This is because I value quality and I want to get the mobile device I want. With prepaid, your choices for phones are limited and usually, they don't include the most recent models. I also like the fact that your concerns are attended to right away when you are using postpaid plans. So my phone and network are both in contracts.

Definitely agreed that the majority get contracts with discount phones.

Pretty much contract phone, but there are a lot of people that use prepaid phones still, but not as many as there use to be.

Thats only if you buy the phone the prepaid companies are selling, you can still get good phones online and get the sim for it.
