Hi,

I am interested to create a new AdSense niche site. They main keyword has moderate searches and moderate CPC and high competition.

I want to target the US for this site. As while reasearching about the new keyword, I used USA only as targeted country.

Now I want suggestions from profeesionals and experts here on BHW, with which TLD should I go, as both are available; .COM or .US

I personally will prefer .US as I donot have any intention to show the site to other nationals but I want to know whether choosing .US TLD will affect my site negetively in terms of SEO or in any other way

THanks in advance

I'd always take the .com personally, I feel it adds a bit more credibility.

It always depends on the topic of your website, however, .com should be your first choice, they rank easily and quickly.

Thanks for your suggestion. Yes credibility is definitely a matter for any website.

If you prefer .US - go for it :)

If you start something "bigger" - get both and redirect .com to .us.
redirecting .com to .us would be better or the either way would be better?

.com is preferable.
Thanks for your suggestion.

Thanks for your suggestion but I think a for a blog which is targetted towards a specific location or country GTLDs is preferred. I have experienced it for .co.uk and .in blogs. Lets see what others have to say.

I prefer .com, if you will going to put your site in Webmaster tool, then maybe make USA your preferred geographic target.

Good suggestion.. I will definitely keep it in mind.
So far .COM -5 .US-0

As for a specific country traffic you have to choose .us, because it gives good traffic for a targeted country traffic.
And it doesn't affect anything to your site.

I have websites that targets the US market and all of them are .com .org. Never used .us before. But if it is your choice. Then go for it.

At last someone with my kind of thoughts. Thanks for your suggestion.

I will go with .uk
I am considering that you will go with .US if your audience is UK. Then the result is
.COM - 5 / .US - 2

Hi,
when I target the US, I usually only use .com domains, but my advice is that if you want to use a .us domain, first check top 30 ranking sites for your main keywords and see if there are some that use .us, if yes then go ahead, if not go with .com.

Good suggestion. I just checked and found that most sites use .COM domain :'( and only 1 in the 2nd-page use .US domain. What to do?

If that's the case, I would go with .com, but in the end the tld doesn't matter much, all it matters is the overall quality of your site and how good your Onpage and Offpage SEO is.

Get a .co
Go big or go home.
Seriously, either would work just fine. Consider which would be easier to remember. .com is usually associated with websites (traditionally), however, there's a time and place for everything. Personally, I wish it would have been .usa, but I digress. Here's what I'd do. Tell 10 people to remember (not write down) your domain name. Tell 5 the .com and 5 the .us. Then, think of a similar domain, and tell each of the 5, the opposite .com or .us. Tell them each both a set of .com domain names and a set of .us domains, only once.

So here's how your test groups should look:
Group A = 5 .com + 5 .us
Group B = 5 .us + 5 .com

In 1 week, ask each of them to recall both domains. If all or most of the remembered domains are .com, then there's your answer.

OP, it won't matter which TLD you choose if your On Page and Off Page SEO is based on 2010 standards.

In reality, the TLD won't matter if your SEO is superior to your competition. If I can't acquire the .com, and the niche is worth it, I'll go with .net, .org, .info, .us, .biz, etc., .etc.

I outrank .com's with ..net, .org, .info, .us, .biz, etc., .etc. All because my SEO is tight.

If you can acquire a suitable .com, go for it. If not, grab the best thing available and start building your empire. No TLD extension takes any SEO precedence over the other; it's all in what you do in terms of your SEO Strategies and Tactics.

I suggest... doing with COM .. is the best way to gain more target....
