I want to register a domain , but all of it's extensions are taken but the
    .us one is still free.
I haven't really used these domains and started to think about their effect on SEO..

Do you think these can rank as good as .com's or even better since they are specially targeted for US ?
my main goal is to get US traffic from google anyways..
So Should I go ahead and register .us ?

    Thx.

Since its a top level domain then you should be fine. If .info's are ranking #1, your .us can as well as far as I'm concerned.

    Hi Toxtom,

I am sure the Domain name you want is a pretty popular one and hence there are no other TLDs for it ;). Please dont hesitate to buy a .US domain name as it is still a TLD domain and ranks very nicely in US SERPS and also the world most of the times :)

    Regards.

Of course .us is never going to better than a .com. It really depends on the domain name whether the extension works well with it or not.

Can it outrank a .com? I'm sure if you work hard enough you can but a .us will never be better in googles eyes than a .com

If all other extensions are taken its probably okay to purchase the .us just keep in mind that's more sites you will be competing with if the niche is similar.

Any extension can rank well if your willing to promote it properly. But its true that dot coms are given an extra push by Google, so if you can always get the dot com extension or even a dot net or dot org is just as good.
