Obviously you should consult a CPA that knows what they're doing instead of asking a forum for help. From what I know, I believe you are exempt from your first $80k made abroad from paying US taxes. As a permanent resident of Canada you owe Canada taxes. Sucks, but that's life. US is also the only country in the world that taxes their citizens while they're living abroad.

I assume the best thing I can do is register a business name and put everything under that? Paying taxes to two countries really makes you end up with nothing.

I can't really dis the Canadian health care system,,,it has worked for me (but I am relatively healthy). I have seen friends have to wait for a long time tho for stuff like MRIs and procedures that you could get in the US really fast if you have any decent medical coverage...but enough about the Canadian health care system. I think we have hijacked the OPs thread...apoligize.
