URL Shorteners, do they really work?

I've seen some people saying that they are all you need. URL Shorten your MS and blast the URL Shorteners with very diversified anchor and high % for domain URL, however I just started testing and wanted to know if someone already tested it and if they saw good results with it. If so how many url shorteners did you use and how many links per shorten url?

They do work! like anything in terms of link building get links from many different places...
 
yep. They work like a charm so far. Check out webdesign.org and their url in SERPS ;)
 
Randy, did you notice any effect that shorteners had on your rankings?
 
I remember someone telling me about this, and then never bothering to try. Time to test! Thanks!
 
What exactly does this mean? I have a URL I run as a custom shortened domain through bit.ly - does that count, can I do something with that? I've done NOTHING with SEO or linkbuilding and my site is suffering because of it.
 
Someone said that url shortener will filter bad links. Is it true?
