    Hey,

Everyone is saying, use an URL shortener when uploading vids to YouTube...

Do you really think they don't check what's behind the shortened URL? A lot of shorteners even give you the option to reveal the shortened URLs on their webpages. Google might even have agreements with some of these shorteners.

Chaining 2-3 shorteners - I'd say this could be problematic too. It's fishy, no regular user does this.

    What do you think?

I believe bit.ly and tinyurl are safe right now. I can׳t tell you if that going to last but it׳s much better then putting your real URL.

Lots of people use URL shorteners and there is nothing wrong with it. However I wouldn't chain them.

Its easy enough to set up an url shortener script on a throwaway domain, and you could even could block Google's ip-ranges from accessing it if you're paranoid.

I think all the users see shortened URL and think it's a scam. As in not zzz.com. I use tiny url but it's doesn't seem to work much

Another option is not to put a link at all and watermark the URL on the video. if you got MVB you can do it automatically to all uploaded videos. But only do it if you got a real website and not some cloacking url. Don't use throwaway domains because once you got two or tree channells banned with that domain, they will banned and check all accounts linking to that domain.

Install YOURLS script (it's free) on your domain and forget about being paranoid ;)
