    Hey guys,

I really need some URL shorteners with APIs where I don't need an API Key or similar things, except bit.ly, tinyurl, ******, and goo.gl. Do you have some for me?

    Best regards
    Bloox

If you're happy to host your own url shortener take a look at

    Code:
    http://yourls.org/
It has an API you can use.

I have no idea my virus scanner has no problem with the site and I've downloaded and installed the script. I's a PR5 site and has been around for a long time.

A quick g for 'url shortener api' turns up a few results which might be of interest to you.

I also found this blog post which 'surveys' url shorteners and their apis (7th result if you use the search term I did) but because of my low (non-existent, I'm more of a lurker, only signed up to use the search feature!) post count I can't post urls

Hopefully you can find something that fits your needs.

That's what I did. The small ones don't accept too many requests. I though some of you know some big ones I didn't know. :)

I'm curious why does it have to be a public shortener Bloox setting up your own is cheap and works the same way.

Why not just set up your own short url domains? Tons of 4 letter domains out there. Never have to worry about getting your redirects taken down again.
