    Hey guys,

I have a brief but urgent question.

I bought an Expired .DE domain. At that time it had about 30k-40k traffic. The site dealt with various subjects from school like history, chemistry, biology etc. The Expired Domain will now be a Money Site in the subject area Health / Nutritional Supplements.

The question: Should I still rebuild the 20-30 traffic-strongest pages from the above mentioned topics (e.g. history, biology), although the money site will have nothing to do with these topics in the future? Or should I simply delete the content completely and publish new articles? Note: My main concern here is to send a signal to Google that the domain with the old articles already has a lot of traffic.

    Thanks so much in advance.

Restore the pages that were generating traffic with either same content or some other related content.

Yeah, what he said. Creating related content would work best if you want to utilize that traffic. Then, use that for your new content.

You can try to post unrelated content, but google might read on to it.

I mean, chemistry and health supplements. You should be able to find some correlation with each other.

Restore the pages that are somewhat related to health, for example, chemistry and biology. That way your money site will look relevant to your potential visitors and Google. Relevancy is very important, not only in terms of SEO, it also increases conversion rate and reduces bounce rate.

The problem is, that the content with the most traffic was related to History topics. Kind of things like ancient egytp, ancient greek, Greek mythology and so on. It sums up to like 10k traffic now. I was wondering if i would just delete all the content alltough it has lots of traffic. Because its looks kinda curious to google when i publish Content about Health related topics and Supplements when there are also Articles about History topics. I am not sure which way is better.

If you're going to monetize the site with only affiliate marketing, then the traffic is useless; hence, I'd recommend you take down the pages. However, if you're planning on using other monetization methods such as Adsense, then I wouldn't recommend taking down the pages. Just add health categories and add your contents, Google will see it that the site has been expanded to cover health topics too, nothing more.

Yes the website will be monetized with only affiliate. So you'd say to leave the old traffic behind and completely rebuild the website with fresh content and new articles.

I'd recommend that you remove old contents that are not relevant to your money site. In other words, remove contents that are not in any way related to health.

Before you decide to restore old content, keep in mind that an old owner of the website can get offended why their content is used by someone else who present themselves like the author of it.

Maybe there is a chance to even legally sue you for copyrights infringements if they really want. But since they let domain to expire, maybe they don't care. But you can never be 100% sure though.

I have similar questions about a site I'm building on an expired domain.

Is there a difference between trying to retain SEO vs Traffic?

It seems OP is trying to retain traffic which some replies have said will not be of much value to a health affiliate site.

If he does not rebuild the pages but instead uses a 301 redirect would that retain the SEO link juice and redirect the traffic to another page or home page?

Like the OP, I have some good links to former pages and would like to know if there is a difference or benefit from recreating a page at the old link or using a 301 redirect.

I notice in this thread nobody has suggested the redirect while in other threads that seems to be the most commonly offered solution.

I think it only practicable when those old sites has to do somethign related to the new content. In my case Health. But the old sites are related to subjects like geography and history. So a 301 redirect would be not so good for seo i guess?

What do you guys think about relevancy? I dont think its a big problem if the content on the new money site is not similar to the old one. (The domain has 500 Reffering Domains and has cost like 3500$)
