Upon sending out lots of targeted emails and no replies, I'm looking for suggestions

I'm doing a version of making a site for a location and charging people to place their business on it.

I've sent out emails and gotten one reply from someone who wasn't interested. Should I switch to postal mail with the red dice method?

how many emails have you sent?
are you 100% positive they're hitting the inbox folder?

    Over 80.

Pretty sure each email gets to the inbox. When I couldn't find an email I used the page form there.

Well, 80 emails don't seem like too many emails. If you are sure they get into the inbox, I would try to:

    1. Redesign your e-mail. Maybe adding some discounts if they come from the e-mail or something like that
    2. Contact more people.
    3. Try to get few clients and then tell in these emails something like "don't lose this opportunity, there are business using this site succesfully: <enter here business name of some of your clients>" (Note: It should work if as you say it is location based, since some business should be competence each other and if one join your site, the other one would join just to don't lose possibilities)
Again, that is just my opinion and how I have made similar things in the past.

Now, I put a few clients on the site already as it would seem like I already had some. One person actually wrote back and said after calling one of the people on your page and finding that they didn't pay, you can forget about us. That was the only reply I got. I changed the content a bit from like kind to more aggressive. I used many different prices. I even had everything developed so they could just go and sign up quickly.

    80 not enough
I tried what you're doing in the past
My first blast was 200-500 emails
Of which I got 3 replies back
2 telling me to fuck off
1 guy was interested but didn't turn him into a sale

    Ah, the old Becker method.

How are you structuring your emails? Are you even acknowledging their business and how you know of their business or are you just straight up asking them to hand over money so you can place their business on it? How will paying you to put their business on your website benefit them at all? You gotta sell the idea and why it will benefit them.

You have to present and sell better and you need to send far more than 80 to see any kind of real return. That's the skinny of it.

Standard for me is that 1/100 show interest. You need to send out a lot more emails.
