Hey, I have a question regarding updating your content in your website.

Currently one of my top pages is ranking #1 for several keywords. However, some of the information on there are outdated (for example "best widgets" -- some widgets I mentioned are no longer the "best"). Can I just remove these and replace with newer products and new information on the article?

I'm wondering how this will affect SEO since I'm changing the content. Thank you

Can anyone provide a quick answer?

Yes update it, that shows google your content is fresh. Your bounce rate might even reduce, because your readers are finding more usefull information, which should help improve your rankings.

But will the content drop in rankings since you're modifying the original article that got you the rankings in the first place?

It depends what keyword you're ranking for.

Does the keyword better relate to the old widget or the new widget?

If it's something like "best men's shaver" and all you are doing is changing the brand, but your page is still about what the best men's shaver is, then you shouldn't lose rankings.

Agree with the above. Make sure the the content is still relevant with your title and meta description. People add and remove content all the time so it is okay.
