    Hi,

I updated my website's theme and changed some pictures and a few things with my text. I was having some technical difficulties so my site was offline for about 3 days with a 404 error. Now everything is live and updated and when I searched some keywords that I was on the first page for, I noticed that I am not even on the first 5 pages anymore.

I also have some blog posts with targeted keywords that I will be posting for some keywords that do not have much competition but I don't know if I should wait because my site isn't really showing up for any keywords.

Any advice would be appreciated. I didn't over optimize anything by the way. Should I show back up on the first page?

    Thanks

I had a similar case where I lost #1 rankings due to down time. After a few days of online time, site was back up. Wait a few days and see what happens.

Thanks for the quick reply. How long did it take to get your site back up and is there anything to do to speed up the process?

Patience. Then build some fresh content and start dripping a few decent links.

Just wait for it OP. I'm not so sure about WHY but I think it has something to do with G spiders, bringing you down the rankings by being offline. Probably some sort of punishment. Happened to me several times. After a few days, you'll get your ranking back.

I think the time loss due to the changes and the error may have caused the drop. Just wait for a few days and resubmit to webmaster. It should help. Start growing your site with better content with proper SEO and you'll be on the first page in no time.
