Short story: I recently signed up to an affiliate site. Got an affiliate link and put a nice review of that product on my site. The affiliate link is in a php file redirect.

A few minutes ago I got an email from the product owner. He claimed that I had outranked the company name with my affiliate link. (for example outranking pepsi.com for the word "pepsi" with a link like pepsi.com/aff1234).

I don't know how this could happen. The aff link has 0 backlinks.

I know this is great because I'm first but I will lose all my comissions for sure and a very good partner.

Can somebody tell me how this could happen?

It happened because your site is more trusted than your aff's site.

Your affiliate is mad because it's losing money to you. You should work something out with your affiliate such as a lower share of a sale for you.

    No. It's his own site.
    I am outranking productsite.com with productsite.com/afflink1234

Awww, the poor am. Being ousted as the middle man hurts indeed. Make a deal directly with the company or buy from them and sell for more.

    ---------------
    EDIT:
Then promote a similar product on the same site.

My mistake. He is the actual product owner not the affiliate manager.

Your link is a link on his page? So realsite.com is below realsite.com/?83984?

Tell him that's his problem. You're just promoting your affiliate link.

Direct him to google, tell him if he figures out how to control the algorithm and share the info..we'd be happy to hear it. :)

Seriously...tell him. "look, it wasn't me....trust me IF I HAD THIS POWER....you wouldn't be the only guy pissed at me" lol
