true true just listen and dont reveal too much of your cards, you may be able to develop a product to service them.

Best bet is what everyone else is saying. Listen to what they want/think they need.

You may not need to do SEO but more of just branding/exposure social media etc.

like everyone is saying, ask a bunch of questions and write down the answers. don't be quick to give them a proposal on the the first meeting.

pretty much hit on the head.

I have a list of 12 questions i ask every client. One is "What would you like to accomplish with your SEO and or PPC campaigns?". Ask that question and listen to what the client says and write it down bullet point form. Then go into specific depending upon their answers.

    Easy stuff. Be confident.

id start by build a profile of their company .. how many employees, age number of brands revenue etc...

find out their level of web experience before you start hemorrhage ideas onto them ...

make sure you discuss what they want in a broad sense dont go spouting linkwheel/technical jargon.. make sure your giving away secrets

GET A CONTRACT before you start telling to much ... make sure their not trying to pump and dump you ive seen folks that will setup meetings just to get the ideas and learn from the potential seo then say "well think about it"

Yeah the above are right, never be afraid to ask what they hope toaccomplish or what exactly they want. Then it is up to you to go away and decide if you can deliver or not.

Remember this, above all you are a consultant. Your job isn't to pump backlinks or rank keywords, your job is to provide solutions to problems.

Maybe they want their website to rank, maybe they want their artists to have good reputations. Maybe they want positive reviews on sales sites. You don't know. Ask them what they want to see, then go back home and think it over. Tailor a solution for them. If you need more help, skype me and we'll discuss it.
