We received the dreaded unnatural links penalty quite a while ago. After a few reinclusion requests, link removals, and disavow tool usage we finally received this email from Google on February 12th:

    "Thank you for your email.

Previously, the webspam team had taken manual action on your site because we believed that it violated our quality guidelines.

After reviewing your efforts to clean up the bad backlinks to your site, we have revoked this manual action. It may take some time before our indexing and ranking systems are updated to reflect the new status of your site.

    Sincerely,

    The Google Search Quality Team"

As of today when we log into our Google Webmaster Tools, the penalty is still there and our rankings haven't budged.

It's been over a month and nothing has changed. Is it just a matter of waiting longer like they said in the email? If so, how long? Anyone one of you had to wait this long or longer?

I would suggest you to wait for few more weeks. You are lucky that you have got that Email from Google. Rare people get it .

You could add a little fresh content and resubmit your sitemap. It 'might' help push it along a little, or at least get the bots out crawling again.

It's an ecommerce site and has an articles section as well as a blog. We just wrote a 1,000 word informative blog post. So, yes, we've been adding fresh content. I guess, it's just a waiting game now...

I just logged into our Google Webmaster Tools account and there are no messages there for the site. Looks like it's just been lifted.
