    hi guys

i need to buy a tool/software for SEO for my Company which does

    - Keyword rank tracking in google
    - Keyword research / niche finder
    - competition for that keyword (possibly to rank for a keyword)

    - nice to have is if it checks for EMD domain availability

    WHAT WOULD YOU BUY?
Would like to hear from people with experience with what they suggest as their tool of preference.

    I'd suggest

Advanced Web Ranking, the Enterprise edition has some neat tools - advancedwebranking.com

and, Long Tail Pro for the keyword analysis, although you could just make do with the Adwords function in Google if you only wanted one tool.

For rank tracking: rank tracker or cute rank.

Competition analysis, I would use Serp Attack (has a free version as well)

Keyword Canine for keyword analysis..testing it these days..

If I had an unlimited budget I certainly wouldn't be looking at SEO tools. :)

On a serious note, if you do have a large budget then find and hire a really good programmer to write you everything custom. All the tools available are garbage if you're really serious about SEO. The only exception is xrumer which you wouldn't bother re-writing.

The SEO tools are aimed at the masses who are on a tight budget and just need to get started. Nothing beats having your own tools if you really want to scale your operations.

Personally using Advanced Web Ranking, but this looks like a pretty sweet online solution.

Of course, yes. When I said 'tools' are garbage I should have pointed out that I was talking about the tools to actually get the backlinks rather than the analysis tools, which are amazing. Seomoz and majestic seo are fantastic. unf is amazing and MS is cheap, so it's worth having in your inventory.

Things like scrapebox, senuke, bmd, article marketing robot etc are not what you'd go for if you have money to spend though. For those get your own tools written.

This is a great question, be keen to get this thread going again.

Surprised people are recommending Traffic Travis. It's pretty good for keyword research, but ranking, no. Not getting accurate results.
The price is right (free) so can't complain, but I cannot recommend the rank tracking, it was way out.

Link Assistant suite - It's a bit of a scam if you're paying for it watch out! Yes it looks good but the large fee is not a one off payment. It's an ongoing 6 month maintenance fee, so be warned. Google "link assistant scam" to see 1000's of annoyed clients.

AWR - Advanced Web Ranking - Is similar to Link Assistant suite, but is clear about the pricing. Wish I'd gone for this over Link Assistant.

RavenTools, good option over anything else web based, but watch out for the keyword limits they can sting you on that.

Market Samurai - Must have. 100s of reviews on this online
Scrapebox - Must have, it's not just a blog commenter. Read 1000s of threads on here.

Looking at getting SEOMoz, used it a few years back and it looks to have gotten much better.

SENuke, etc. as mentioned before. Maybe not.

How is this, it's cheap. Is it accurate? Do you need to run proxys on it? May buy it to test it out as it's cheap. Be nice to get some feedback first though.

Traffic Travis (theres a free version)
    Ultimate Niche Finder
    Scrapebox
Ultimate Demon (only recently bought this but it seems great and should pay for itself in the near future)
