I have a unique problem. One of my clients has a great site and a lot of traffic. Unfortunately, someone created a blogspot blog and keeps posting irrelevant but negative posts about my client. But, he is ranking high on google for the same keywords as my client. Is there a way to push him out of Page 1 on google? How would you handle it if someone put negative stuff about your site in their blog and hurt your business?

Pay $30 for the xrumer service on here & spam to it directly.... it'll either get the site deindexed and banned or make it more powerful that you could ever imagine :)

If you want to rank higher than the offending site then check out the links to it & see if you can have any of them removed or duplicate them for yourself.

Do a better job at SEO than that guy. If his blogspot blog is brand new, and your client's site is established and could be considered an "authority site" by now, then just work on getting more inbound links. You could also create more keyword-optimized content and put it up on YouTube, Squidoo, etc. If he has not removed the Blogger navbar, you could flag his blog. True, he could easily make another one, but if he gets the same visibility in Google, then you'll always know where to find him, and you can keep flagging. If he gets wise to this and hides the navbar, you can also try contacting Blogger/Google about the matter.

Contact the person (if possible) and ask him/her to remove the offensive content. If playing nice doesn't work, then get a lawyer.

thank you for the suggestions. My clients site is ranked higher than this idiots, but he is still on the first page of google. Also, his site has been around for a few years now and has a 3/10 PR. We contacted him and got no response. His backlinks are mostly from 2 other blogs that have a 4/10 ranking and they post negative stuff too, just not about my client, about someone else.

Our strategy right now is to create a few blogs and post them for similar keywords and to link to them from other high ranking sites. it's a long shot though. He has now got a twitter page and a growing following. was 9 yesterday and 45 today. He has NO ads on his site either, just a negative campaign against my client.

i will try the flagging and xrumer option.

I am open to other suggestions if you have any. Thanks. this is great stuff. I posted this question on DP and as usual there were no real answers. :)

You could have your client address each negative post point by point on
    your blog.

And maybe create several blogs that are similar to his and address each
    negative post he makes.

Is he posting negative things about the company's products or is it more personal?

The negative post are out there so you might as well use it to your
    advantage.

or maybe you could keep spam commenting his blog and link back to your sites, that could piss him off to eventually give up.

Does he monterize his blog in anyway?

I'm just trying to find out what is his motivation for the negative blog?

He does not monetize his blog. The comments he makes don't get personal. It talks about policies that my client's company creates and calls them scams. (They are not).

The easiest way to push him down may be to push others up. I couple well placed links bumping others may work. Wouldn't be the first reason justifying building links for other sites.

I would hire an attorney and have him send cease and desist to blogger and twitter. They will jerk his crap down.

I had this too, to my name. That pr*ck spent a good 2 years on the front page, but has been pushed down by linked in, facebook, article website profiles, & a blog I created which tagged my name. Its fairly easy to push a non competitive term but as we all know google like blogs so do your own.

Call him on the phone and "nicely" tell him the way it is. Let him know you have the server logs and if he doesn't stop and remove what he has up already, you will have a judge intervene.

I have done this at least 6 times in my career. Competitors seem to think they can leave a negative review on Google places and that they won't be caught.

I thought with the blogger blog your complaint is enough to remove the blog in question.

Build several high PR properties such as Wordpress, Blog Spot, and other web 2.0s and then backlink them for your keywords. It shouldn't be too hard to out rank him.

Talking about negative posts has anyone seen this scambook site? It really does nothing but host complaints about different product and they are usually sitting at the very top of search results. It really needs to be knocked out of the serps.
