I have read a lot and tried a lot but without any success, and I must resort to the forum and it's experts. For the record, I stick with one method until I can get it right.

I have been trying to rank for a keyword that is not very competitive and yet this specific keyword does not go past the second page, meaning I haven't been able to hit page 1.

What I currently follow is tiered link building, although I do not go to a 3rd tier as I don't see too reasons to considering I always ping my links.

    I create the following:

    TIER 1:

    1. 8-10 filler related articles pointing to authority site (90% of the amount of words are between 300-600 and 10% 200 words)
    2. 1 main article - 500+ words pointing to money site
    3. include images + videos.
    4. All articles are the very high quality; no spun garbage.

    TIER 2:

    1. All Backlinks from: minimum 50 OBL from all backlinks.
    2. Blog comments
    3. Image Gallery comments
    4. Trackbacks
    5. Forum comments
    6. and guestbooks
    7. Mixture of do-follow and no-follow.

I haven't gotten around to creating doc-shares because I wanted to see the power of these web 2.0's but not sure if I'm just the fuck-up or what is wrong..

Any insights would be highly appreciated.

    I think it looks good.
Is the main 500 article on a page on it's own or web2?
What's pointing at it? Is it funneling articles from tier 2 or 1?
I would keep swinging from the back and consider a comment n-article bomb on tier 2.
    Good luck, hang in there!

Have you analysis the 10 top competitors for a targeted keyword? You need to know about it if you want to rank. This is important thing or you waste your time. At least you must be the same level to the competitors or better than the competitors.

Pm me your skype as well as your website and keyword and I would be willing to take a look at it. If not tonight, perhaps tomorrow.

How are you defining competitive here? Is the top 10 full of white hat sites that are obviously targeting the term? Do they have good editorial backlinks or trusted domains? Viral content that attracts genuine shares and citations? When you do blackhat you have to understand that metrics like that can literally be worth thousands of times as much as even the best blackhat shit.

I've got clients SERPs that are literally worth millions with less than 5 backlinks, but only because I could leverage the inherent legitimacy of the entity I was representing. I'm sure plenty of people see me there with 5 backlinks and think it means they can BH their way there, but it's impossible for them. At the same time, look at something like porn or viagra and you've got no way to gain genuine authority so even the big guys are just trying to outspam each other. That second space is where you wanna be if you do BH.
