It would appear NHS staff in the UK have been triggering Google's "im not a robot" spam bot protection. I suppose its all those "how to get a pay rise" queries from the same IP subnet thats doing it.

Stupid story really. But the interesting thing to note is the language being used about it.
cyber defences triggered, cyber attack, botnet ooh scary stuff. Its like Y2K all over again. Are you worried yet?

They probably have a static IP(s) so couldn't they just get whitelisted by Google. NHS is a massive organisation a phone call from one of their senior management to Google would be taken.

As the World's largest employer and a budget of Billions, this could be politically damaging. I would expect it's already old news. The Prime minister would be on this straight away

My point was the language being used by the media is intended to stir up fear of cyber warfare/hackers etc. It being the NHS is what gives them the angle to spin it to people who might never have seen the "i am not a robot" checkbox from google.

True. But there are people out there who do want to help other people. Not everyone's a nurse for the money. Be thankful for them :)

Its more damaging to google, the UK could decide to boycott google and just go to Bing.

Yes but why then spend so much time complaining. Same as firemen trying to hold the country to ransom. They train and apply for a job and they know the exact hours and pay, then complain about it.

Yeah the worst of the worst. Make a fair good wage for less than part time hours. And I really could not care less what grief I get because people can't see the truth. Firemen spend most their time doing fuck all.

they do nowadays as fires are less frequent with modern building regulations. The night shift they sit about watching tv or playing pool, it hasn't changed since the second world war
