I think Penn is talented but do agree GSP made him look shit tonight. Unfortunately for him he is too cocky and doesn't realize the work ethic of GSP. He's a rich kid with lots of talent but no work ethic!

If you don't train like a SOB day and night, GSP will make you look shit every time. I think it looked good on Penn with all the trash talk leading up to the fight. Maybe my opinion is swayed cause I am Canadian. :)

I have to disagree that the fight was boring......

BJ was overwhelmed by GSP and that was the whole strategy. GSP did not allow BJ to establish himself and this really was part of the game plan.

By the way, even though I wanted GSP to win, BJ would pretty much destroy any of us here on the board, as well as the average joe on the street.

I have always liked GSP and don't really look at which country someone comes from, when I choose who I am rooting for......GSP is just the type of fighter that I prefer, style-wise.

This leads me to personal experience with shit-talkers:

Years ago, I had a fight with one dude one time, who before the fight, turned from being mr nice guy to a real "I am going to kick your ass" asshole........this was in a supposed "light contact" karate tournament.

The more he ran his mouth before the match, the more determined I was to destroy him. I said nothing back to him, and just thought about my techniques.

When the match started, he went full contact immediately. This angered me and I paid him back by ensuring that every time he even tried to punch or kick me, he was struck with at least three strikes.

If they counted every kick (including the ones to his groin) and punch that landed, he would have lost 18-1 in the match.

In the end, all his big mouth got him was a face that looked like he was hit with a baseball bat, and a thorough ass-kicking.

Moral of the story.......you can talk a lot of shit, but can you really back it up?

Anyway, overall, the fights were good.

The first fight was a lot closer because GSP didn't take Penn to the ground in every round like this fight. Supposedly Penn is a great jujitsu fighter but couldn't do anything on the ground.

If everybody fought like Anderson Silva I'd love MMA but too much of this ground stuff makes me want to watch some boxing.

I'm from Montreal, home town of GSP. And I agree, the fight was a bit boring...
But what did you expect? Look at their physique and tell me you truly believed Penn had a chance...

GSP trains like an animal, breathes martial arts 24/7. And on top of that, he is class act.

I met him once on the streets. He was going to a restaurant with some friends. I just said hi, shook his hand and we talked for almost 10 minutes joking around. He's totally down to earth. A real cool dude...

I agree, the main event wasnt all that exciting, But what can you say, GSP trained his ass off while Penn went to the beach.

I was glad to see Guida pound Diaz, I cant stand either of the Diaz boys. And does Guida ever settle down? Get that man some decaf coffee or something...

But can you believe the spinning back elbow from Jones that put Bonner on his face? That was the best of the night to me.
