Some have asked on this forum what do blackhatter?s use proxies for? Simple, to rotate there IP address as often as possible when using certain software and going to certain sites. Using software to auto post, blog comment, refer spam, social bookmarking, etc. you will want to use multiple proxies so your information looks like it is coming from several sources. You will be able to find more in depth information regarding proxies and how they work by simply searching Google. Hell there could be a post here as well, I have not fully searched for one. Http Proxies ? Used when visiting websites, common ports are 80,8080,8000, 3128. You will want to use anonymous proxies to help ensure your IP address is not being forwarded through the proxy you are trying to use. Socks 4/5 Proxies ? Proxies that support Http and other connection types, common port used is 1080. Examples would be a messenger program or IRC. Socks 4 is the older of the two and does not support user authentication or UDP (I think UDP, can?t remember). Socks 5 supports everything and is the new version as you could probably tell. *You will find proxy lists that do not use port 1080, they use off the wall port numbers and these are still socks proxies. They however are part of a botnet (google search if you do not know) and are commonly used to send bulk email or attack other networks. They are computers infected with a virus that allows the botnet controller full reign of the use of there internet. I know some of you hate the idea, but you have to admit whoever first thought of this idea and put it all together is a fucking genius. * Co*Deen Proxies ? You will want to stay away from these at all costs. You might have tested a list and came up with a shitload of anonymous proxies, however if they are Co*Deen then they are junk. Reason being is that entire network logs everything that goes through it. It was setup by Princeton and they have A LOT of servers that use the system. So even though it comes up as being anonymous, by all means delete them. I use Charon to check my proxies and elite proxy switcher in conjunction with firefox since it has an addon that allows me to change proxies with the click of a button and they have a free version as well. If you want to use a piece of software that does not have proxy support, do a search for sockscap and there is your solution. That will make any program go through a socks proxy before it connects to the internet. Other popular programs include: Access Diver ? Has a shitload of tools built in. Proxy Hunter Proxy Checker Some ISP?s will frown upon proxy scanning, so using an IP scanner to scan entire blocks looking for proxies might get your account suspended for port scanning. Please keep this in mind if you choose to scan for your own proxies. Good luck and I hope for some of you reading you learned something new today.
