Type in traffic. Blanks refferer or not?

Hello. I have a quick tech question.

Does type in traffic really blank the refferer? I have a video on youtube which only displays a watermark of my url. This makes vieweres type in the url into their address bar. I read on here that doing this will blank the refferer so that the networks cant see that traffic is coming from the youtube video but I just tested it by going to my youtube video's page and typing in http://www.whatismyreferer.com/ into the address bar from there. When I get to whatismyreferer website it shows the refferer as the youtube video. Can someone explain what's going on? I have read a lot of people's comments in here saying that type in traffic is blank but it doesn't appear to be.

Depending on the browser used if you did not open a new window or tab then it might show youtube or whatever site they are on as the referer. You should consider using a DMR.

Correct.

When I started with BH one of my income flows came from parked domains. This was at the time when they only allowed organic traffic and direct traffic.

Putting sexy vids on YT etc. made the dollars rollin' in.
I felt pretty comfortable and smart.

Till one day I checked the AWStats for a different YT project and between the thousands of hits there were about 5 to 8 YT and other vid sites referrers.

That was the day I stuffed everything behind a fat DMR...

Whoa I didn't know that would show up as the referrer! Thanks guys
