I built some exact anchor match links and they were rising nicely but a week back they disappeared and I thought maybe they are dancing to come back stronger. There are also internal exact match anchor links pointing to it so I am thinking maybe I overoptimized and should reduce the internal links and there anchor text?

maybe alerted google algo for to much KW anchors...

Its hard to say, i have seen sites that rank with huge % backlinks with KW's.

A wise man told me which i do believe from experience , every single site is unique - some get a way with it some don't

Try diversify if not, re build new site with same strategy before you got slapped!

Its not slapped because some keywords are fine. Only two keys have disappeared.

keep building more quality links and use more link diversity.

pretty sure google sees it as a red flag if you stop link building during 'google dance' period. its how they weed out lots of seos.

Build links to your brand and the raw url from unique domains till it moves back again... rinse and repeat

Seems to be Google dance from your description.. wait for a few days and build more diversified anchor texts to that url and perhaps some social signals and it would probably bounce back even stronger.

Make sure you build some quality link for upcoming one month , you will see something positive.
