I´m here to finally share two very important SEO mindset lessons I recently learned that would have saved me hundreds of dollars if I just would have understood and applied them sooner. Some of you already understand and have applied these 2 concepts I´m here to discuss but if you haven´t make sure to understand it and apply them, it will really save you both time and money.

    Disclaimer:
English is not my native language so I apologize for any grammatical errors.

Recently I have started to focus more on authority sites than micro niche sites. When I ranked micro niche sites, everything would go pretty fast. I would find some keyword, thought I had found a goldmine and immediately create a site and send a bunch of backlinks, when it didn't timely went as planned I would just buy more links from some other link service or jump on the next golden opportunity. I didn't know it yet, but I did it wrong.

I have had success with some really great and profitable micro niche sites but more times than not I would fail or at least spend more money than I had to simply because I didn't apply what I´m here to teach you today. So without further ado, let me explain what I used to do wrong.

First off, I wasn't 100 % determined to complete what I started. I would take action, build a site and try to rank it but when I hit resistance, when it didn't rank as expected, I would go and build another site instead of keep focusing on my first site. When it didn't go as planned I would just run for the next golden keyword I had found and therefore both waste money and time so my first lesson is:

Stay focused, even at hard times, and never run for the next shiny thing. Stay there and complete what you started!

I repeat, Whenever you feel like it´s hard and it doesn't work, don´t not run for the next shiny thing (another site, a new method or whatever it might be), continue work on what you started and you will see success.

Success won´t simply come from jumping method to method, from new site to site or whatever you do, it comes from hard work all put into one thing, that´s how you build success.

Very related to my first lesson is the second lesson.

SEO is a slow process therefore threat it like so!

I simply didn't understood this. When you read it like this it all seems so simple and obvious, but that´s not as simple as it sounds in action. I would expect my websites to rank fast but more times than not it wouldn't and I would lose interest or have my money on a short term strategy for ranking the website.

A typical short term strategy like that is to depend on other people and their services and to think that after those XX amounts of services thats it, (or Fiverr gigs, i´m also guilty of that one ) and the site is ranked, the money will flow in.

I have nothing against services, I know for example many truly awesome services on this very forum, but depending on them and thinking they is your only answer to finally rank that site lacks in so many ways. What if the site doesn't rank after the XX amount of services, what if it goes off budget and still no good SERP, what if the service suddenly is wasted money and had a shady return policy, I have personally experienced all those scenarios and there are many more problems with this mindset.

What if I just would have used a long term strategy and bought my own softwares where I was in control for all the time it takes to rank and maintain the rank? What if I would instead of depending on services used them to enchant my already strong long term strategy? If I just would have understood this very lesson, I would have gotten so much more success and saved so much more money.

That´s it. I really hope somebody learned something from this post, I have been a member here for about a year now but I have been reading this forum long before I finally became a member and I learned a lot so I thought to finally give back a bit to this awesome community. So remember to stay focused on what you are working on and never run for the next shiny thing and remember to threat SEO as a slow process, if you stay there and work on it, you will rank for that perfect keyword one day.

    Happy moneymaking.

    To your success,
    Alcr33k:cool:

Well Said man, good motivation ... I agree that staying focusing on anything untill its done is the only way to success. Actually Success is a thing merely seen by only few and masses only desire and those few know what it takes. But as my understanding to become successful you have to see it happening before it actually does.

Giving up is not an option for successful people like Will Smith said "If you go on treadmill with me, there is only two things happen, either you loose, or I DIE ON THAT TREADMILL, PERIOD"

well its kind of journey to the star, and for me its better to having one little step, then everytime we see another shiny star, but end up in a same place. I know its not easy to stay focus and its really hard when we realize that we just get a little step mean while we see other shiny star out there. Congrate OP!

Being focused is the most important part to become successful at both SEO and IM. If you leave it, everything is gone. Whatever hard work you have done so far are of no value. There is one quotation which I keep remembering always and it works as a motivation to me-

"It does not matter how slow you go, as long as you don't stop".

While the world's running in circles not having a clue what it wants, we'll be right here....slowly but surely collecting & polishing our stars. It can't shine without some elbow grease!

The question is, when do you know you´re wrong about your site/niche /Keyword? You can stay focused but if it was a wrong choice since the beginning, it will be a total waste of time and money.

The take away for me here is that people who sell you "golden bullet" solutions are full of shit.

Success takes hard work - at least at the start
If some guy was really coining $11,000 a day from a push button tool
Why hasn't he just got 20 of them on servers making him 6 million dollars a month?
Why is he selling it on some website that looks like it was created by a retard.

Wouldn't he be better off just running more instances of his super-dooper software?

People that start a presentation with:
"Are you sick of Gugu's?" - are nearly always selling guru voodoo shit themselves

    When they say;
"Why am I giving this software away? Becauae I really want to help/decided to pay it forward/I've earned enough" or whatever are also 100% of the time full of shit.

Sure there are more effective ways of doing things, ways to get better value for your time and cash. But push button wins are a fallacy.

I have to agree with you, SEO indeed is a slow time consuming process given that you are pursuing white hat techniques.

Nice post OP - it reminds me of the saying that the tortoise always wins the race - but also nothing wrong with a bit of churn and burn while you are waiting IMO :p

Great thought, OP. SEO does take a lot of time - keep sticking with it is the best way to do, I think. We cannot afford not to be on page 1 or #1 of Google.

Just returned to check out the forum and noticed all those reply:s, thank you very much for the kind words, glad to be able to help / motivate some of you.

Indeed, it could be a waste if you see it that way. But more importantly than the time and money you learned an important lesson. There are no failures, just learning points. Let´s say you picked wrong keyword, you could either see it as a waste of money and time or you could see it as a way to finally learn the hard way how to pick a better keyword.

Couldn't agree more. Stay away from what´s seems to easy, it´s probably not true anyways. "Success takes hard work - at least at the start"
You nailed it, better work hard and to finally suceed than to run around in circles looking for that next magic bullet.

No, nothing wrong by that but whenever you apply SEO for long term profits it´s sure slow time consuming process. :) Go for the most blackhat exploits you can find if you want to, but make sure to always have a plan for the long term aswell.

Of cource, that´s the first step to sucess. But for me it has always been that taking action has been easy but to stick to it the hard part.
