Twitter vs Instagram for traffic generation. Instragram looks like it should suck?

I've been using twitter to generate traffic for a few couple of months and its been going really well. I'd also like to try Instagram, so I created an account this morning and I've been manually experimenting. I'm quite impressed with the follow back rate, seems much better than twitter. However I'm very disappointed that it appears you can only post links on Instragram as part of your profile. You can't put any clickable links in posts!?

How do you guys actually generate any significant amount of traffic with this (vs tweeting clickable links)? Do you just like/comment/follow in huge numbers and hope people click your profile link?

It depends what kinda traffic you are interested in... Instagram is good for traffic for specific niches imo, such as fitness, fashion etc.

It all depends on your plan to be honest, look at some profiles, such as EarthPix they started a brand off Instagram and get traffic easily now.

I was hoping to automate as much of it as possible but after spending a few hours on it still not sure if it will be worth it. I will continue testing manually

you could get a easy to type domain and watermark your content. or create full image ads that include some type of domain for the user to type in.

There are a few methods on bhw, and all of them rely on the profile link so... it might be possible to bank with instagram. I'll try a niche in the following days using 6 accounts and if results are good, I'll scale my method.

it easily worth it, user engagement on instagram is one of the biggest if not the biggest amongst all social media sites, you can have much better results with the same amount of ig followers than with the same amount of twitter followers even if you can't post live links on ig except that one in your profile

With IG, you can make bank with just 30k followers. I remember someone in bhw who sold that account for $3k to someone else.

Just as long as your engagement is high on IG then people liking/commenting your photos then they will click that bio link.

instagram si quite good, it's often overlooked because it's a little different than the other social media platforms, but if you're in the right niche it could be amazing for you. As for automation, that's a little harder too than for the others, you'll mostly have a problem with automating the posting.

Definitely get on the instagram train OP. If you do what awfulsad said, you'll get traffic. I've been building my fitness niche email list through IG and it's going great
