I set up a twitter account for a little money maker I plan to set up (I'm going to be re-selling facebook and twitter fans from fiver to a niche audience) and on the first day I manually followed 450 people and logged on today to find it had been suspended. I've managed to unsuspend it but have been warned I need to follow their terms and conditions and not follow too many people.

If I get suspended for manually adding a few hundred followers how do these fiverr gig sellers offering thousands of followers in 24hrs manage to get away with it? They all assure me accounts will never get banned and no one using their gig has had that problem.

Also anyone have any tips on how to build followers to my account without it it being suspicious to twitter?

It depends of the account you're using. if you open a new account, with no tweets, no retweets, and suddenly you add 400 followers, of course you're going to be banned, it's common sense. You better age and grow your account and push the boundaries later.

even the following pages stop after a certain amount a day. give it a little more time and start slow - make some tweets - fill out the whole profile and so on and there is no problem

I think the main thing is based on how old the account is. My account is 3 years old and I follow the twitter maximum everyday (1000) with no problems and I get about 400-500 that followback on average.

I guess I'll build it a little slower, make more tweets and tweet about more trends etc.

I would not recommend going over ~200 per day if you want to stay off the radar. I personally have been suspended for not even tweeting, it is luck of the draw getting past the first couple weeks sometimes. As your account ages, it becomes easier to follow more per day.

well what did you expect? following 450 people from a newly created account is surely a ban from twitter!

keep it down to 50 / day (with not many unfollows) for the first days to be safe. also try not using the same
ip if you have more than 1 accounts...
