So the good folks over at Twitter have decided that the fastest way to put the kabosh on our marketing efforts is to cap the number of people you can follow at 1,000.

This applies to super users as well as newbies.

So if your plan was to follow in order to be followed, then the only way to make this work is going to be to grow tons of accounts and grow them in a smart way.

I'm going to setup 20 profiles tomorrow I think and get the process going.

It was bound to happen at some point -- Twitter reached, or is approaching, critical mass.

We can still build these identities, but it will take more time. Given the time aspect the desire to churn and burn accounts will lessen.

The approach of cultivating these identities over time, and having them as part of an overall marketing plan, is still *VERY* viable. Look at leveraging Twitter over the next 1-2 years as a cog in your marketing machine.

Once you get going, your account will grow without you needing to rely on following so much.

just create more identities. that just comes with the game
