    hey guys!
Twitter has been looking increasingly better to me as a marketing medium. I see a lot of services that offer hundreds, if not thousands, of twitter followers for a price.
here's my question: do i focus on just getting a huge number of followers? or do i focus on the quality of followers.
i would be marketing a product, by the way. how many followers do you think i should gather for a successful stint?

I'd recommend both, but if you had to go with just one, then I'd recommend quantity.

There are millions of people on twitter, so if you have like 10,000 followers and 50 retweet your tweet, and they each have 1,000 followers, then that's 50,000 extra people seeing your tweet (product, cpa, etc.)

If you only have 1,000 twitter followers who are "targeted", they are still not going to really buy from you.

Most marketers have a misconception about twitter. There's really not a lot of money to be made there because it's an "Update System" where people just tell other people gossip, etc.

If you have a news website, then it might do you some good, since people will spread your site's links.

Twitter is not a Sell Sell Sell platform, its Engage, Build Trust and then Soft Sell kinda platform.

If you dont engage and only try to sell you wont lead to anywhere on Twitter.

    good point.
i also have a review site where i can point people. i profit from that site by putting in amazon links once in a while....so maybe i can use that instead of trying to sell directly.

so, even if i have a site, quantity matters over quality right?
but if i have too many untargeted followers, wouldn't the chances of me getting reported for spam and consequently banned be higher? people are less likely to report me if they like my site, right?

    oceanz,

If you send spam to your twitter followers, then you'd get reported either way if you have quality or quantity.

The key is to put your affiliate links or whatever, and if you are going to reuse them, then delete the old ones and post the new ones (if its the exact same thing over and over).
