I am in Twitter for 2 years now, never doing any blackhat-action. I know the tool very good, as I use it several hours a day. I know the people, I know the behaviour. However I have some brainstorm-ideas I'd like to share with you.
In the forum I read a lot threads about people spamming twitter like hell, just hoping someone clicks their affiliate links - and failing. I might know the reason. The problem on twitter is that nobody really reads his timeline anymore, because of following too much people. So most twitter-people only read their replies or direct messages. 90% of them don't miss a DM - that's for sure. I tested it and I talked to some marketing-frieds, who approved this number.
So the real deal in Twitter is the Direct Message Function. And there is however no real tool out there to mass DM all followers - at least no intelligent tool, that understands and reacts to twitters api restrictions.
There was tweetlater. They killed the Mass-DM function yesterday over night (I can't find it anymore), but it never worked anyway, because it sent out all messages directly. But twitter only allows 20 DMs per hour / 200 a day (as I know), so the rest of the messages just crashed at the api-wall and got lost.
Why is there no really good tool for that purpuse? It should be a tool, that recognises what you want and sends out controlled DMs. Like you want to message 1000 follower, so the app sends 200 DMs over 5 days, so that every DM is really sent to all followers. That should not be a big deal to develope.
As I am no programmer, maybe someone likes to develope such an app. I would pay for it instantly. If somebody is interested, please PM me and I can help with consulting, usability, design and stuff.
Why twitter do you ask? Because you reach REAL people that read your messages, like email lists with nearly no effort. To gain followers is really easy. 1000 controlled DMs I send manually bring 90% click on my affiliate links.
So - anyone?
