How much is a twitter account with 16,000+ followers worth?

why not use it to make money for yourself?

$5/1,000 followers seems to be the current going rate.

I saw on ebay that a twitter account with 10k followers sold for $150. Not sure if the seller just got lucky or if that's what they go for.

As with anything Jared it all just depends on what the buyer is willing to pay. You'll be able to get away with selling a single legit account with high followers for more probably, but when buying/selling bulk accounts $5/1,000 is rather realistic. Search around on this forum and others.

It will depend on your agreement and how will you use those followers of yours in making money online.

So, if you combined an autoblog with a direct twitter update, you could eventually sell off the twitter account ..... hmmmmm

It would be automated, and I have noticed the more you post, the more people follow you on twitter. Just never thought of selling it.

I don't really get all the fascination with buying account that already have followers. Getting followers is the easiest part. And if you buy them with followers you don't even know what you're really getting. If you just want random followers you can get 16k in a few days. The more difficult part is knowing how to monetize them, and that's easier if you added them yourself and know who you're targeting.

There is no proven correlation bettween the number of followers and $$$ earnings on Twitter. What I am noticing is that if the followers are targeted and "paying attention to you" in a particular niche, yes, money can be made. There are many variables involved with followers. For example, you can have 15,000 followers but that doesn't mean that they're all online and ready to read your tweet(s) when you send them, unles you're tweeting every 15 minutes or so. Also, there is a growing number of bloggers bitching about people using twitter for money/marketing. They want to keep it some sort of pristine "what are you doing?" social network -which is what it is - instead of a place of commerce. I don't know about you, but If I'm going to spend any significant time online tweeting, I want to see some ROI. Maybe I'm past the chit chat stuff. If you're in a targeted niche, it IS possible to make contact with key people. An example of that is if you were an actor trying to hook up with a casting agent. You could promote a video showing off your acting skills, etc.
