Tweaked a little bit and now massive ranking drop!

Hi guys, yesterday in the evening i decided to set the recent posts widget to 2 instead of 5 posts and today morning my rankings looked like this:



do you guys think its just a g-dance, well because the rankings were stabile for atleast 4 Months so i thougth its alright.

if this is on your main page, then those posts get juice from your main site, if that is the case then yes that could be the reason. You might have lost a good internal link to those posts. OR you might be doing something BlackHat and got hit by google. Are the 3 posts that you removed the ones that dropped?

the funny part is before the drop the main page ranked for several keywords but now its completely gone and for those keyword some inner sites are ranking but really bad.

btw. the recent post plugin shows up sitewide

just a little update:

the main site ranking has disappeared at nearly every search term instead there are many inner pages ranking like author/admin/page/2/ but far far behind dont know it feels like the index page got deindexed or recrawled or whatever you wanna call it.

would be nice to have some opinions

I would hazard a guess that by adding the extra posts you injected more text into the page content, and because these posts are not as related as they should be, it affected the onpage keyword targeting.

In addition, by making that content site wide, you have introduced a lot of duplicate content on many pages of your site which will cause a penalty.

I think you get me wrong i removed 3 links to inner pages (recent posts widget sitewide) my intention behind this was to reduce the keyword density. I focus on a 3 term keyword lets say blue berry test here i have a density around 2 %, but for blue berry i have around 6% and i thought this was to high to get better rankings so i removed the 3 links with that keyword in the anchors but this test seems to go wrong.

It was my second biggest site (about 200$ a month) so i feel really bad.

Give it a few more days to see what happens. If it carries on dropping then you've done something wrong and you'll need to request more help.

google dance is pretty often nowdays my website was on first page for couple keywords and than it was gone for 1 week and come back
