Anyone hear the news? Do you think social signals are a waste of time now? I guess it depends what niche your in, tweeting about mahogany toilet seat providers probably won't get you much traffic but do you think he's BSing?

Honestly i have a hard time believing anything that comes out of his mouth anymore. I feel like all he does is lie.

Not sure about SEO, but tweeting does bring in some crowd which is good anyway. The articles also get indexed faster if you share it over the social media. So I won't worry about what Cunts says on this.

I know, you've gotta love his cheesy grin... was my title a bit risque? I pee-d off at Google at the moment for a number of reasons

LOL, that puppet. There have been recent tests showing a high correlation to ranking influence. He's also said, "not provided" wasn't going to go above 10% and that negative SEO isn't possible. Lying sack of shit.

Of course it does not count, at least not as much as those clowns at MOZ and SEW are trying to promote it with every 2nd guest post on their sites. This is one of those rare occasions where you should listen to MaCu

Seriously.. Cutts is a bad mouthpiece for everything wrong with google.. simple +1 google counts as a "vote" or recommendation .. sure you don't think they would make their own ratings worthless to the web ??

A lot of people talk about social signals giving serp boosts, but I have yet to see it do anything for the rankings of any of my sites. I don't listen to Matt Cutts, but it's all old fashioned links for me here until I feel social signals are actually worth my time. I've actually seen detrimental effects from using "quality social services" here.

Social signals wont help in rankings but still it can be used for indexing and traffic.

I guess its like you say, at least it gets the page crawled more often...wish I hadn't wasted $5 on retweets this morning though

Seems the only advice you can get from Matt Cutts is 'Make Great Content'

Who the hell ask them about that shit question. That bogus cutts always say lie.

There's a lot of myth behind this too, but I won't get into that here. There's a correlation (correlation does not equal causation, as many would say) between good ranks and great content, but once you understand how google "reads" content as "great", you'll see that there are ways to make google think a crappy article is "good" and keep it ranked.

There's a well known fable "The Boy Who Cried Wolf".

Matt Cutts has the same problem. He lies so often that no one believes him when he speaks the truth.
