In this tutorial i will explain how you can trick the aol desktop software to change your computer ip, so you can browse anonymously !

    1. Download America Online 9.0VR
You can download it from here: (DO NOT DOWNLOAD OTHER VERSIONS CAUSE IT WILL NOT WORK)
    Code:
    http://www.oldversion.com/windows/america-online/
and create an aol free email account
If you do not know how to create an aol account please visit the below link:
    Code:
    http://help.aol.com/help/microsites/microsite.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=72358
    2. Unzip it
    unzip.png

    3. Open the folder where you have unzip it and double click on SETUP90.EXE to install it ...

    4. on the install setup, choose "current members" and "Creating an additional AOL account on this computer" and choose to install AOL in the default directory "Program Files" for x86 or "Program Files (x86)" for x64
You will be prompted to install an IE addon, toolbar, un-check cause we do not need any addons or toolbar ...

View attachment 38697 View attachment 38698

    5. After installation is finished restart your pc and open AOL 9.0 from your PC desktop

    6. AOL will attempt to connect to the log in page and to check your internet connection, click cancel, close etc ... and you will reach the connection prompt
screenshot 1.png here choose "guest" and click on "connect options".

    7. click on "Advanced Broadband Settings" and at the prompt continue .
    advanced broadband settings.png

    8. click on "add a broadband profile", in the prompt write "HOME" and click add
    add a broadband profile.png

    9. on connecting to the internet check "automatically reconnect ..." and on the "Connection Type" Drop-down, choose "HOME NETWORK" , leave checked "automatic proxy configuration" and click save ...
    Connection Type Choose Home Network.png

    10. you will now be back on the log in panel where you will notice the brand new Home connection you have created earlier on step 8 and 9
    home log in, choose home.png

    11. attempt to log in using guest and the new connection "home", if an error appear and you are not prompted to enter your aol user name and password, then select instead of "Home" the "broadband" option from connection and log in only once using the broadband connection, then sign off and select select "Home" and log in using your aol username and password... minimize the aol software and use any browser you want, you are now behind the AOL software and a new AOL ip is allocated on your computer ...

real ip : real ip info.jpg

    aol ip : aol ip.jpg

you will also notice in your windows "network connections" a new WAN miniport virtual adapter created for the AOL connection, named "The Internet"

If you have any other questions or you have problems with the set up fell free to ask and i will guide you ...

IF YOU ARE PROMPTED TO UPGRADE AOL, CLICK CANCEL, DO NOT UPGRADE IT !

LMAO Christian, I just saw this when I woke up and start laughing out loud so hard. Damn talk about a blast from the past. I didn't realize this was worth sharing. AOL's proxy has been raped so bad that it's blacklisted on some sites is the only problem. We used to abuse the shit outta these IPs. It will work on any version of AOL starting really with 7.0. As long as you instal the ACS which is the connectivity you'll be able to access "Home Network" settings. Lol man oh man the things we used to be able to do and get away with. There was a time when the AOL IPs were whitelisted on quite a few sites and the rates would be completely lifted in some cases because of that fact. Christian you literally just made my morning with this man. It is essentially a free VPN though and none of the of the IPs will show up as proxies. You can also sign off and back on and get a new IP each time. If you have any trouble or want to install it on a new client so you don't have to keep cancelling out those annoying updates just download a newer version, 9.6 or 9.7 work just fine. You can accomplish the same thing from there.

Hey man, i was using this in 2004 , a very long time ago, but i was thinking its a great share for some peoples that do not know how to set up it ...
The newer version as far as i know didnt worked ... if its working then its much better, i was struggling myself last night to remember what version worked, cause form what i remember after a certain version you weren't able to choose a home network connection !
The great and most important thing is that is still working and everybody who needs a US ip fast and free can use this method !

Definitely man, it's a great share and a very very fast proxy as well. I have been able to make it work for versions 7.0 - 9.7 personally so if anyone has any questions feel free to drop a line here and I'll be happy to try and help as well.

Great info! I just install v9.7 on my windows 7 x64 and works perfect. What I love with this is, when I check ip on whatismyip doesn't show up with "Network sharing device" or "proxy detected" or what is worse "IP address has been reported as a recent forum spam source".
It works very fast, and everytime I reconnect, give me a new ip. Great tool to cheking out US based CPA offers! Thanks OP

It's worked great, however seems like it only worked with the ie/aol browser bundled within the software. And also, it will not work when access through https sites, i.e. google search

You're not connecting properly then. When you use home netty it changes your entire Win32Inet or w/e. I can't think of the actual name off the top of my head but its something like that. It is literally a vpn.

^^^ I think you're right, most people from other sources do not seem to have this kind of problems according to my further research. Maybe because I did the installation test in the vmware virtual machine, but that's the only way to avoid aol junks into my desktop.

you didnt connect like you should connect, this happens because you havent made the HOME connection right i think. It should work very good on all browsers.

Which version were you using? They changed things later on. The key thing that you need is the ACS or AOL Connectivity Service. You can actually download AOL 9.0 VR to get it then uninstall the VR edition and reinstall 9.0 or 9.7 or w/e version you want. When you uninstall the 9.0 VR you just leave the ACS there and only uninstall the client itself. As long as you have that ACS you can set the connection settings how Christian described and home network will change your entire connection instantly. If you're connected to a server and have RDP open it'll drop for a moment and have to reconnect as your entire computer with now be using an AOL IP address and appear as such no matter what browser you use.
