Well this is pretty basic knowledge to the veterans of Instagram. So this tutorial is aimed to the newbies who are just starting out and asking all different questions about engagement.

    Now here it is.
    Don'ts
Don't follow another persons followers in the same niche. Why? Some of these accounts are bots and really won't make sense to your cause.
Don't like pics of mainstream hashtags. This makes close to no sense at all. Why? Because those people are like you and me trying to make a buck off IG and also some are bot accounts.

    DO's
Follow persons who commented the most recent photos of a page in the same niche. Why? These people are the most active and take time out to comment, so they can do the same for you thus increasing engagement. The only catch here is there is a less follow back ratio. (at least I noticed this with myself).

Post regularly. I recommend post at least 3 times per day. Why? Because more exposure. How? The people who comment often tag their friends on the pic and their friends may tag their friends and the cycle goes on.

Well that's about it. Also as you see the engagement go up you are able to cross promote with other bug pages in the same niche because your number of likes and comment maybe on par with them or even more. Thus you growing faster.

Maybe you're using bot to follow people but what if we do manual this process any suggestions you want to give...
Bcoz manually it is hard to follow people from the coments.

I saw stats from iconosquare that showed posting 1 photo per day has optimal engagement, more posts decreases engagement

It seems as if it's more but if you post 1 pic get 5k likes and post 5 pics get 2k likes on each its 10k against the 1k. Also post once daily won't increase followers either.

Follow persons who liked a pic of a certain competitor's niche photo.

Yeah there might be bots, but it doesn't decrease engagement since bots won't follow back...

I tried following the most recent users who liked and commented on a big page's pics, but the followback was dreadful. Extremely slow. I reverted back to normal and it flew up again. would not recommend this method personally.

One thing that has kind of boosted my engagement is by posting a lot more than before.

I used to post 3-7 times a week but now it's 2-5 times a day. However, I wouldn't be seeing this type of boost if it weren't for the quality content I've been uploading. It's a lot of work but I've been getting good results from it.

Great guide I agree with following the people that comment, I use more than one query when using FL and also agree with PaperBoy sharing a few times a day gives me better engagement than when i use to only share once or twice every few days. Also do a little contest to get your followers interested and active people love getting free stuff from social media. I bought pizzas for followers a few times lol and got some good activity from it.

You're right in the fact that the method you said brings better engagement per amount of followers, but the amount of followers gained is too low for me. The engagement may be a worse percentage but with more followers gained when reverting back to my old method, that has meant more engagement overall for me.

I've found that following smaller accounts in your niche works best as opposed to following 500k+ accounts.

when trying to do this in follow liker, just set it to "users who commented" and the query put your similar niche's IG
correct? this is the only way I would think... but I never those "users who commented" was asking for an IG account, I always thought it was asking do I want to follow people who commented the specific thing I type in..

Follow those who commented on a picture of video. For you to do this you need to go to Iconosquare or Webstagram and copy all the number you see in the search bar and put it in the users who commented query.
