Well I thought I would give an idea on this forum at least one time. Only other technique I have ever wrote out was stolen and put on this site anyways. Now I am not sure how great this idea is but I'm sure clever people out there can figure out a way to make it work anyways if there is a problem with the way it is done.

This monetizing technique is made to take advantage of the iPad craze, or for pretty much any other craze. (Like the iPhone coming out later, the other type of iPad being released, a new smartphone, Amazon Kindle). It is a blackhat method.

What you want to do is hold a "raffle". People will pay to enter a raffle to win something they don't necessarily have the money to buy or are trying to get it for less.

    1) Reach a large audience saying you are giving away your iPad(or other product). You can target an audience on a forum, on CL or through e-mail lists. You will need to have a reason to say why you do not want or need the item. "My girlfriend bought me an iPad for my birthday so I own two now." Some people will get suspicious. Either keep lying to them or ignore them. Just talk your way through.

    2) Have any person who is interested pay to enter the raffle. You can set your own price for entry. Perhaps, every entry into the raffle costs $5.

    3) Make sure you say that the winner will be notified when the raffle ends and that you will ship the iPad to them.

    4) You don't really need an iPad since no one is really winning it.

    5) For secure raffle entry, you can make a page that has your PayPal button for "Donate" on it. And for the reason of donation you can put "raffle entry".

You can get really creative on how you do this. The basic point is to have a lot of people enter into your "raffle" by paying for every entry and saying that someone else won the raffle instead. You do not have to spend any money on getting a product or shipping a product. Hope this works for someone or at least gives someone a way to twist the idea and make some money.

Hope this tutorial helped. Sorry if I missed any data. :)

Raffles are illegal in A LOT of places just an FYI to people. I had a similar idea of setting up a major raffle site online and did a decent amount of research and selling raffle tickets is illegal in most jurisdictions in the united states.

Really? I didn't know. Well I suppose this is for people to use at their own risk. Once again, it is Black Hat.

yes it is fraud, not black hat, actually with the money you gained with the rafles you could buy then a real ipod and give to the winner, dont be greed, but there are people giving money to this methods? i would not if the site was not trustfull and i didnt know if the results would be manipulated.

I was talking about legit raffles which are still illegal to run in almost every US jurisdiction.

Here's something I've been considering setting up that might sidestep the whole legal issue...run the site as a straight up register to win site, but protect the registration page with a CPA gateway. That way the registrations pay for the prize. And as mentioned, definitely provide the prize...the amount of "buzz" you can generate with an actual winner is more than enough to balance out the short-term cut into profits.
